Dean knew. Dean noticed.
It's been almost 6 years and that head tilt from Dean still haunts me

lucy and the ghoul's reactions to lucy killing feral ghouls
I feel compelled this morning to postulate on something--
Her look in panel 7 can be interpreted as nothing other than sexual fulfillment. And as hypersexual as Lucy has proven to be throughout the series, for her to realize that she can get the same feeling from killing as she does from 👀 is as dangerous as it is liberating for her. Especially as the next few scenes show her leaning away from the Buffout- her current stimulant replacement- into killing things as a form of gratification.
Well, why is this important?
By the time we get to Cooper's betrayal, Lucy has had more than enough time to realize all this- that killing gives her a high just like sex or drugs (like it also does for Cooper, I would point out). And when she responds accordingly after being suddenly sobered by his actions and wanting that instant hit of dopamine, punching him out the window should have given her that same satisfaction. But it doesn't.
On the contrary, it feels bad. And then the following scenes in the vault see her forced to hurt again and only reinforce that bad feeling when earlier in Freeside killing the ferals, it felt good. The only difference being- Cooper wasn't there this time.
So later, when he returns, she's hit with so many realizations at once beyond just who he is. And that's a big one, for sure. But rather more impactfully, does she realize who he is to her. HE'S the good feeling. HE'S the dopamine. He's the addiction. It wasn't the drugs or the killing or anything else she's been using to substitute for her gratification- It's him.
Even if they aren't having sex.
...which is a profound thing to find in another human being.
