How i built a global site for $0 (and didn't lose my mind)
i was so over the old way of building things. spending four hours on a broken css grid or fighting with api keys? nope. not in 2026.
When I started building openresources.co.uk i made a rule. i wanted to see if i could just vibe a website into existence. i didn't want to write the code i wanted to curate the feeling. and it actually worked.
these are the five tools that let me build a global directory while i was basically just vibing:
google antigravity [the real power] i didn't write the code i just directed it. i told it the vibe i wanted [sleek, dark, futuristic] and it built the whole engine. it’s like having a senior developer in your pocket who never gets tired of your "one more thing" requests.
lovable [no code design] i am a writer not a designer but lovable made me look like a pro. i described a layout in plain english and it just materialized. if a button felt off i didn't fix the code i just told the AI to make it snappier. That’s it.
affinity suite [the adobe killer] canva making the full affinity pro suite free was the glitch in the matrix we all needed. no monthly subscription just high end design power for my logos and banners. it’s actually pro grade for free.
stealthwriter & obsidian [the brain] every single tool description on the site started as a messy thought in obsidian. it’s my free open source second brain. then i used stealthwriter to make sure the drafts actually sounded like me. human and catchy not like a robot trying to sell you a toaster.
screaming frog [the site doctor] since i vibe coded the site i needed to make sure it wasn't just spaghetti code under the hood. this tool is my x ray vision. it finds the broken links and tells me exactly where the magic needs a little polish.
the bottom line: you don't need a massive budget or a computer science degree anymore. you just need a vision and a few tools that feel like cheating.
I have cataloged about 200 more of these cheat codes over at openresources.co.uk Go find your own vibe and build something cool.
