Some thoughts on Poetry when I was living in London.
Grammar doesn’t change lives. Stories do. Write first. Edit later. Never apologise. Rock and Roll strange child. - jaytheauthor https://www.instagram.com/jaytheauthor/
Three Melbourne Writers came together to write a gritty book. About the streets of Melbourne.
There's a Tale to This City is an offbeat portrait of Melbourne that combines poetry, narrative prose and toilet paper diary entries, recollecting the strange experiences of three writers, who came together to learn the art of listening. This book is a great introduction to learn the technique: Street Writing.

Our Melbourne literary movement has started to gain traction. Street writers are coming out of the woodwork, wanting to write together. The romanticised idea of writing alone is falling apart in the year 2021. Let's get writing together.
Take me to your rabbit hole.

Listen to the narrative about our day spent on the street, together as a team of writers, finding stories that live in the light that too often go out of sight. This project was written together by, RC Waldun, Jaidyn, and myself. We wrote about the same scenarios from different perspectives.
You don't have to be a depressed lonely writer to create a classic masterpiece. You can live like it's your last day and write in between the madness. Feed off other writers, inspire each other. Be happy. And create, together. Use the street as inspiration. Live like a firecracker. And explore the world with a pen and paper. Don't be shy. Open your heart. To the best book around. Life.
Join us on our literary movement, writing about the street in all its grit, raw, and savageness. Feel alive! Scream from the rooftops! Be yourself. Inspire one another to truly live like it's your last day in a frenzy of pure madness. And write what is now about the world around you. We don't know what we are, but the spirit of the Beat Generation feels alive within our madness.
“Read slowly… Digest the book bit by bit. Read a chapter once. Highlight any lines you find hitting. Wait a moment. And read it again. Before moving on to the next. Truly digest each and every line, as if you wrote it, hoping to find inspiration in how it was written. For me, this method is really important. Sure it’s slow. But, I find this method to really help me improve my conscious stream of writing.”

The stories that sleep in the shadows. Are the stories for me. Burn, baby, burn! In the neon flash. We like to call life. Don’t question your ability. Don’t let people dampen your flame. Just fucking write! Like you really mean it! Burn, baby, burn!
Join me on my quest to shine a light on the stories that are hiding in the shadows. Waiting to be told.

“To practice the art of people watching, is to practice the art of writing. To know how to watch, is to know how to write. With a live flame. That shines a burning light on the stories that hide in the shadows.”

Dear stranger, I know it can be cheesy to say a smile or a hello can make somebodies day. But when a stranger smiles at me or says hello, it really does make my day a little better. That's why I try and do it to people who look down. And usually when they reply I feel good too 🙃 I'm pretty sure that man didn't get many of them in his days. But if he did, maybe it will make him feel alive again for a change. Not an invisible man. ✨ Just try give a smile to somebody looking down 🥴 See how it makes you feel.
