“I thought of the watch a tick tick ticking on my wrist. All that cleverness, those wheels within wheels, turning, being turned, teeth biting, and yet one tiny piece of grit, one human hair in the wrong place, and it would seize, ruined, worthless.” -King of Thorns
Humans are quite like this, we have our lives in order. We have everything set and working smoothly. A thousand different parts and cogs all somehow working together, perfectly in order. But that's the fault in such order, add one tiny little piece of sand to your well oiled gears and soon enough the entire contraption fails. It doesn't take much to leave us broken, we often seem to do it to ourselves. We put on such a sleek facade of perfect order. But we are human, we aren't made to function so perfectly, and sooner rather than later, one thing will fall in our gears, and send our functionality into ruin.
