Some thoughts on the alicorn concept - what to do when something that's only happened to like 5 ponies ever happens to you and you can't ask for advice because they're like 11 light years away

Will he outlive Rocky? Who knows, not much data on becoming an alicorn after going through All Of That

I like to think he keeps the scars because The Magic recognizes that they mean something to him, idk

Will he actually try to fly? Does flying work in 2G? Who knows

He can go in the atmosphere now because if Luna can go on the moon he can go on Erid and I say so

Probably eventually works up the courage to reach out to Earth and establish communication through the other alicorns who have the kind of lifespan to handle that timescale

They try to give him/address him by a royal title and he Does Not Want It

Asks for them to send food/seeds and 1 billion sour skittles and then goes dark for 1,000 years

(I refuse to make Rocky into a MLP creature for this bc they're all from Earth - someday I will draw the other crew; at least one of them isn't a pony in my mind)

Cleaned up Grace's design + a Stratt concept bc it came to me in a dream or a prophecy of sorts

Notes:

Grace is a blank flank his whole life on Earth and it badly feeds into his lacy of confidence - man never feels like he's in the right place in life even with all he's managed

He has lil star-shaped markings among his spots :)

He always wears clothes to cover his flank; Especially when he gets recruited for the project (can't have them finding out they recruited a Fraud) (Stratt knows somehow, idk it just feels like she would)

Gets his cutie mark in space sometime during Fishing, doesn't find out until he wakes up afterwards. He can't bring himself to celebrate until Rocky wakes up too :/

He totally hides it in all future video logs until he comes to terms with it - probably drapes that quilt over himself or something, idk

Idk if I'll make the wings 'canon' or not, but:

The wings appear the night before Rocky tells him that Sol is back to full luminosity. He freaks out

He does Not feel like he deserves them

Cue sequence of him trying to explain to Rocky why a pony may suddenly gain wings but that this is Weird because that's only for Important Ponies which is totally not him

Grace Remembering about the alicorn lifespan and trying to figure out if he's gonna outlive Rocky + if they should try to actually establish a line of communication with Earth since they have the time now

For Stratt:

Less elaborate cutiemark compared to Grace's, but hers is still a bit fancier than usual. Turns out that pony destiny magic recognizes necessary evil as a valid calling

(Totally snuck a lil implied bombing of Antartica into her cutiemark bc I think it's funny)

Uhh Pale Horse of Death connection felt fitting so that's why she's that color

admittedly very fond of the PHM MLP aus because yes Friendship IS Magic tyvm (esp @jayvidaem holy mackrel is the cutie mark design amaze amaze amaze)

Especially the "Blank Flank Grace until mission"+"Becomes Alicorn bc he helped save 2 entire worlds ur honor"

it's been haunting me bc I love the idea of him being an Alicorn of Courage or Curiosity bc he's so scared. all the time. But there's too many things to know to not go forward. And I keep thinking about his wing feathers being something unmistakably Eridian, gently singing crystal, like what's on their celebration clothes.

For every step to sing with joy and relief following in his wake.

(also imagining him just bobbing around in his little enclosure's water feature paddling with broad wings that /should/ work fine even in Erid's gravity but no thank u he will not be finding out no sir)

Imaging waking up from almost dying, you got your damn cutiemark in space and you can't even tell your best friend about it :/

Reviving this account specifically to post my Project Hail Mary horse(s) because I watched the movie and it has Consumed me. Dr. Grace horse (Gracehorse(?)) be upon ye

Blank flank for basically his entire career, it hugely fuels the overall insecurity and inadequacy thing he has going on. Wears lots of flowy outfits or long coats so people (esp. his students) don't ask.

Seriously don't ask him how one can have 3 degrees, be published in their field, have a teaching career and yet Nothing there

When he gets dragged to space he vaguely thinks a one-way mission is probably the most meaningful thing someone like him could do since he clearly doesn't have a real purpose anyways (Perhaps a harsher Stratt would bring it up in an attempt to convince him to go)

Gets his cutie mark sometime during Fishing. Doesn't realize until he wakes up from almost dying :/
