This relates to writing for me because I sometimes struggle to ask for help when I need to. Asking for help occasionally stresses me out for some reason, so I find myself relating to this post a lot.

I can translate my writing process to work outside of the classroom in ways related to school and professional writing. For example, I enjoy writing just for the fun of it, and I can use my writing process to improve what I have written or plan to write. I can focus on brainstorming and creating a better outline for what I write by using the writing process.

The infographic assignment was the most challenging for me this semester simply because I am not the best at creating designs, and putting things together in the way that we had to. I think that my writing has improved this semester, however, and it has done so by becoming more organized.

For my counter-argument, I intend to mention how the author of, “To Save the Climate, Look to the Oceans”, did not express ethos enough in her argument. By the addition of ethos to her article, Johnson would create a more informational and credible atmosphere for the audience. Information is good, but only when the source is credible.

It is important to evaluate a source because some sources, even those that appear credible, do not always contain credible information. One of the most important things I was reminded of from the chapter was to investigate an article thoroughly before deciding to use it for research.
This knowledge changes the way I read and think about an article by reminding me to always check the credibility of the information I am using in research. It is easy to mistake false information as being credible. Being reminded of this knowledge changes how I will look for articles and information on the web by the websites I decide to use and the credibility of the information contained in the article.

The article I found that supports the argument is below. It is titled, “To Solve Climate Change, Remember the Ocean”. The article is written by Janis Searles Jones and uses logos to express and support the argument. The audience consists of scientists, researchers, students, and those who care about the drastic change in climate. The purpose of the article is to inform readers about the affect that the oceans have on climate change, including the large amounts of carbon dioxide that is absorbed by the oceans daily.

A quote that stuck out the me in the essay was, “A sentence is much more than its literal meaning.” This stuck out to me because I can relate to it when it comes to my writing. A sentence is not just a sentence in most circumstances; a sentence is composed of several hidden meanings and important information. A sentence is always more than a sentence, depending on the way you look at it.

When it comes to being peer-reviewed, the best suggestions I have received are generally about grammatical errors and ways to strengthen my hook to draw readers in. Suggestions that were least helpful were not suggestions at all. Instead, they were compliments or the reviewer telling me that they found nothing to be adjusted.
There is nothing that I can think of that should be changed about the peer-review process. I suppose communication is key, and as long as that is accomplished, I see no issues.
In the article, “To Save the Climate, Look to the Oceans”, the author uses a persuasive and personal approach to create a successful argument about how the climate can be saved by the ocean. The author uses rhetorical appeals of logos, ethos, and pathos, with an intended audience to be those who focus on climate change, such as scientists and researchers.

Something that surprised me in the article was the “Inverted Pyramid” model. This is because it contains useful information at the top of the website, and the less important information at the bottom. This method is beneficial because people go to websites for fast information and answers. Displaying what is needed at the top of the website gives readers exactly what they want and in a fast response. I can incorporate this technique in my own writing by beginning with interesting information as a hook, so I can draw readers in. This technique is important because it is crucial to keep the audience engaged in what they are reading, therefore, it is also beneficial to maintain interesting information even after the hook.

My pre-writing process was a bit unorganized if I am being honest. I could have brainstormed a bit more and outlined some things better, but I have let the stress of current situations get the best of me. An aspect about my writing process that I found to be most useful was that I try to find a way to engage myself into the things that I write about using my imagination. What I would most like to improve about my writing process is becoming more interested in the things I write through the engagement that I previously mentioned.
Writing
When it comes to writing, I have always been a big fan. Throughout middle and high school, I would write poetry and short stories. My best friend and I wrote a small book together two years ago, and we continue to write today. Writing is something that I enjoy, and I find peace and relaxation in it. I am not, however, a big fan of scientific writing or professional writing; I prefer creative writing over anything else.
