Flournoy-Wallace House. During the 1830s the north half of this farm house was built for a member of the Flournoy family. Reuben Wallace added the south half and the porch in the 1850s. Reuben Wallace was the great uncle of Bess Wallace Truman.

Independence, MO. St. Mary's Catholic Church. Historic St. Mary's church was begun in 1860 and completed during the Civil War. It was dedicated in 1864. This area was established as a French and Indian mission in 1823 and a parish in 1845 by Father Bernard Donnelly.
