ﾟ shawn mendes. male. he/him / did i hear you say finger cuts from guitar strings, randomly placed tattoos, and long music filled nights ? then you must be talking about long island, i’d recognize them anywhere. i’ve heard that the twenty-two year old musician is a leo and honestly, i see it. they’re known for being short tempered and impulsive, but their selfless and adaptive tendencies make up for it. they’ve been staying at du lac for about 2 weeks now and i think that their real name is jake chavez , but don’t spill.
background:
jake was groomed his whole life to be something better than his parents. his dad, a construction worker with a business degree he just never wanted to use. his mother, a hairstylist who wishes she had enough money to go to school. his father, six years older than his mother, found himself in love with the nineteen year old waitress that occupied the diner he frequently went to. it was all cute and adorable until she got pregnant before she was even able to afford a college education.
jakes whole life was a struggle. a struggle to pay the bills, a struggle to even make it to school on time. that was until, jake met his current manager. at the time she was just an after school music teacher but she showed him at a very young age that instead of just sitting out front waiting for someone to pick him up, he could fill that time with something better, MUSIC.
several guitar covers and failed auditions later, jake finally made it. he thought the money coming in would make his family life easier. in fact, it was 50% for the music but 50% for his parents. he had seen enough of them struggling so when he got the chance, he gave them EVERYTHING. but that came with a burden. with money, came more problems. his family fell apart and his parents got a divorce. on top of that, the pressure jake felt to keep his career on the rise was increasing. he found himself turning to drugs. it was all fine for a year until he was found overdosing. that was when his family, and management decided to put him in the hotel. it was secretive and safe. and gave the party boy a lot of time to get his life back together, if he could.
key traits/notes about jake:
he’s currently a bit on edge. he hasn’t really recovered from his parents sending him away even though he does everything for them. he doesn’t think he has a problem AT ALL. and probably will try to do anything he can to get alcohol, drugs, or get into any party scene possible. he likes the idea of everything being secretive and no one really knowing who he is. but, it’s not enough motivation for him to change.
he’s not a bad guy, though :(( he loves getting to know people he just doesn’t love talking about himself. he’s a huge giver and will give and give to people even if they treat him like shit. he has a tendency to get angry and explosive easily due to all the childhood shit he has buried that he refuses to acknowledge. right now he’s just going through the betrayal of his parents anddddd this new forced sobriety.
