ย ย ย rushing to finish getting ready,ย ๐๐๐๐๐ grabbed a random perfume bottle, spraying the necessary areas on her body. being able to go to the studio with one of her closest friends and share in that experience was something she wouldnโt take for granted. outside of being a fan ofย ๐๐๐๐๐๐โs work, the young woman was genuinely excited to see the creative process unfold. the sound of the horn brought a smirk to her face, deciding against prolonging her from waiting any further. grabbing her purse and keys, she quickly made her way out of her apartment and decided to take the stairs. once she reached the ground level,ย ๐๐๐๐๐ flipped her sunglasses over her face before purposefully strutting to the car and getting in.ย โ you better be glad iโm excited, otherwise i woulda had yo' ass sittinโ for tryna rush me,ย โ she stated with a grin.

ย ย ย despite being overseas, the young woman wasnโt going to miss out on the opportunity to be a voice in her community. the fact thatย ๐๐๐๐๐ was allowed to speak on her institution was something she took pride in. despite not letting on that she was that girl when it came to her grades, she cared highly for her education. smoothing over her hair as she adjusted her phone within the ring light, she motioned to ๐๐๐๐๐๐ that she was about to record, pressing the button on her camera and taking a brief pause before starting.

ย ย ย despite not speaking to a live person,ย ๐๐๐๐๐ worked her best not to speak with her hands, clasping them together when she caught herself. yet, her attention was jogged, a bright smile flashing on her face as she got an idea.ย โ now, when it comes to me. one thing about it, baby, iโma always be on my grind. always working to a bag. iโm a licensed nail tech and i do nails out of my home. and when i actually started gaining traction, baby, my books was full! i can say that doing that, with my orgs, studies, social life..it was a lot! iโm grateful that i didnโt have to do a traditional job, but still, you know? but i have a habit of giving my various endeavors my all, so iโve been drained, for sure. but thatโs just me! i did have to find the balance with my clients and my studies. and that just called for supreme organization, honestly, so they could both work.ย โ
ย ย ย โ um, when it comes to going to a pwi, i wonโt lie; i have some privilege. i know iโm light as fuck, and people be confused sometimes when i say iโm black. but i am, and thatโs all there is to it. but i know for sure that some of my friends have experienced more blatant microagressions or direct racism even. and thatโs why i made sure to make a difference during my time serving as bsu community service chair. weโre in a bubble on campus, but whenever you step so far out of it, you really in sc. and ainโt no way iโm not tryna funnel resources back to my community.ย โย
ย ย ย adjusting in her seat, a smile flashed across her face as she thought on her final point, pushing her striaghtened hair behind her ear.ย โ i feel like safe spaces are necessary. and some people donโt, and thatโs cool! but when youโre literally in a culture shock area, so to speak, it can be a lot for people. and exhausting and draining, dealinโ with stuff that youโre not used to. being around people who canโt relate to you. and thatโs why itโs so important that we have those spaces. singleton? itโs very important. it invokes a place of community and can give students security. strength. a support system with people going through what you are. when youโre a first gen, your family doesnโt understand what all goes on beinโ at school. but in those safe spaces, youโre gonna have someone like you. and while itโs not good to only work within that space i feel, itโs definitely needed to keep going. but, i wanna thank yโall for yโall time! follow my nail page, nailsbydidi, try and get on my books before i get back to school!ย โ
