Life is movement, even when that movement comes from inertia. You have to move. You have to go forward, not in the meritocratic sense of success, but simply forward.
When life catches you with a left hook and you fall to the ground, stretched out and unconscious, if you’re lucky, you’ll wake up. Get up and walk. Keep walking. You have to go even when you don’t feel like it. You have to do it even when you don’t want to.
I know it’s one hell of a cliché, but in all the years of my life, I think the most valuable and surprising lesson I’ve learned is that life is movement. Gravity. If you keep both your body and your spirit in motion, you’ll realize that life opens itself before you, like a flower offering itself to the morning sun.
Some people call it destiny. You can call it whatever you want. But ever since I found a purpose and started moving my body in that direction, I haven’t stopped being amazed, day after day, by the magic and mystery of being alive.
