How could you forget this classic?
"wtf this is just blue dirt - we risked our lives for blue dirt?"
*Roach covered in enough indigo to buy like five pirate ships*
the death of 8tracks made you all so bad at making playlists i fear. good ship or character playlist is max 16 songs and devastatingly perfectly crushingly curated. it should make sense musically, if not across the playlist, then at least from song to song. GRADIENTS of genre. think about this before you make a 200 song ship playlist that includes both maroon 5 and mitski. Think on it
my 6 hour ship mix contains neither maroon 5 or mitski but thanks for the advice I will ignore the rest of it

I think the real hero in Disco Elysium is the girl running the Frittte stand for at least thirteen and a half hours every day
throwing my lot in with people who accept the world and also believe we can change it. neither those who are in denial about the world nor those who accept it but believe there’s nothing to be done about it are going to change anything; only those who accept and still believe will
Sorry to bother you, but is this really you, or is someone on Facebook pretending to be you? I'm afraid to send the request!

time of year i remind every cane user to get an ice pick so you dont fall and die
almost biffed it in a fucking parking lot so time for me to repeat this. if you are a cane user in the northern hemisphere its time to get an ice spike coming in the mail BEFORE the ice forms.
I did not know this was a thing. Had a family member start using a cane this past year. Will be buying them one. Thank you!

i keep seeing people saying ed is irredeemable, they don’t like ed anymore, stede should be way more bothered about what ed has done, and i cannot express how much this is Not what the show asks you to do
throughout s1 we are reminded that the show takes emotional pain far more seriously than physical violence. when ed is being violent it’s to convey that he’s really hurting, not to convey that he’s dangerous and abusive towards other characters
the first 3 episodes make it so clear that
1. ed’s actions are motivated by trauma and despair and absolutely unmitigated self loathing
2. ed wants to die. ed feels like he deserves to die. he knows he’s being horrible and he’s doing it on purpose bc he wants to give the crew a reason to kill him. he’s trying to commit suicide by mutiny
3. ed isn’t being cruel for the sake of cruelty. his ship isn’t like hornigold’s ship where people are being fed live crabs for wanting more rations. his ship isn’t like the ships that lucius talked about being on before he joined the red flag. he isn’t tormenting the crew bc it’s bringing him joy or bc he thinks it’s funny, he’s literally trying to take a shortcut to being dead, and it works in his favour that this crew know what it was like on stede’s ship because:
4. overall the crew are unhappy bc they’ve gone from serving a captain with a people positive management style who gives them vacation days and reads them bedtime stories to serving a captain who cries a lot and does a lot of rhino horn and doesn’t recognise the value of their work (eg wanting to throw treasure overboard to avoid going back to land). the atmosphere on the ship has gone from being weird (affectionate) to being weird (incredibly derogatory). the show makes an effort to show jim cheering fang up by telling the story they learned from stede. they’ve seen that it can be better than this
Said this somewhere else already, but it bears repeating: Ed himself thinks he's unlovable and unforgivable. He's thought so at least since he killed his abusive dad. And especially Episode 3 makes it very very clear that Ed's main "antagonist" right now is his own self-loathing. He hates himself! And that's what he has to overcome, that's narratively what his arc is about. He'll have to learn how to be a three dimensional human being as David Jenkins said in an interview. He'll have to learn how to be a person he can love, and he'll he have to forgive himself, too. And we as the audience are asked to root for him, being a protagonist in a romantic comedy, to succeed in this fight against his self-loathing. If we decide Ed is unforgivable, we side with the voice in his own head that ultimately pushed him off a cliff. The narrative doesn't want us to side with this voice. It's a show about people making mistakes and hurting others and then growing and attempting to do better in the future. Like that's a main theme. We are not supposed to side with the self-hatred that pushed Ed into doing all the bad stuff we saw him do in the first place.
Ed taking comfort in doing little domestic and caretaking things.
Maybe he WILL be good at running an inn.
