out of everyone in the gaang to ship with azula, i think toph would be the best character. she's not personally victimized by azula or the fire nation so it removes the ickiness of shipping a unredeemed colonizer with a colonizee. like ig i do enjoy azuki in the sense that it's onesided with azula flirting and taunting her in battle but that's about it. though i do admit yuezula is in a similar position and i think it would also be good in theory. but tophzula is a underappreciated potential yurigem.. and not only could it be a sort of enemies to lovers thing going on, toph can support her to be a better and healthier person. her sponser if you will lmfao.

also think about it. the girl who was raised in a high class family who were very controlling of her yet was still able to hold on to her identity outside of them and grew to resent that society vs the girl in a similar situation but who's entire identity is defined by her abusive father and her country's values. they both could relate to the other and yet they can't understand the differences in who they fundamentally are as people.

to top it off i just think it would be a fun dynamic. they both like combat and can be pretty harsh so they would always be fighting even when they became more friendly lol. plus, toph is a very honest and strong person so azula wouldn't have to worry that she's forcing herself to be around her due to fear.

I wanted to draw these two in formalwear.  HC that Toph spends most parties making crude commentary about the various dignitaries in attendance to get a chuckle out of Azula. Also couldn’t help injecting a little prank on Azula’s part as well. She’s the only one who can lie to Toph, and def uses it to her advantage.
