SHE shrugged to the question, but couldn’t help herself at staring at the images. she may look nonchalant about them, yet it was the opposite on what she actually thought. ❝ Yeah, i guess. i wouldn’t say it’s the best thing i’ve seen, but it’s–… decent. anyway, how was new york? overly crowded, i assume? ❞
“it’s crowded, but i liked it there... it’s different from here that’s for sure.” he did not necessarily dislike hawkins, but the small town felt like a bubble trapped in its own world sometimes. he stumbled upon a photo he took in a coffee shop. he made sure to capture the ambiance of the cafe. “well, i know we have benny’s burgers but the cafes and restaurants in new york had some of the best food and coffee...”
Photography was still a large part of jonathan’s life. He took a lot of photos in New York before moving back to Hawkins. It was almost surreal that he attended NYU and lived in New York. He had been sharing his photos for the past hour with the other individual. “I took this at the New York historical society museum... it’s pretty cool, right?” In a way, going to college taught him to embrace the things that made him unique... as cliche as that sounded.
“ —- in my defense , this cat has a mind of his own . ” cue her going on her toes , picking him up from the other’s lap / shoe , a small glare in her eye at the cat . “ sorry about salem , again . i really ought to start closing the windows of my apartment , hmm ? ” she jokes to the best of her ability , with t he SQUIRMING black cat in her arms .
Jonathan always had an affinity for animals. When he encountered a cat on the street, he initially thought it was a stray or that maybe it was just lost. He tried to pick up the cat, but it just wouldn’t stay still. Instead, it remained at his feet. It wasn’t long before the owner showed up. “Oh, this is your cat?” His voice was soft. He thought it was odd that she chose the words “mind of it’s own” to describe her cat.
☆゚*・゚┊charlie heaton, he/him + 22, cismale┊❝ take a chill pill, that’s just « jonathan byers », i heard they’ve been in hawkins since « 1964 ». i always catch a glimpse of them at « the hawkins post », humming to the tune of « every breath you take + the police » when they think no one’s looking. also, they’re like totally known as the « taciturn » of town, so i’d keep my eye on them. seriously. ❞
Tl;dr on Jonathan: will’s older brother, likes photography and music, asocial and quiet
After the move, Jonathan finally got his wish to attend NYU.
The move wasn’t that easy for him since that meant abandoning everyone and everything he never knew. However, it meant a fresh start for his family.
He just thought it was ironic that he was finally taking his father’s advice and living in the city.
He did enjoy his years at NYU because it wasn’t full of the same faces who picked on him in high school. He majored in Photography.
He took a lot of photos when he was in New York, often taking weekends and holidays to visit museums and parks.
The rest of his family decided to move back to Hawkins after two years of staying in New York. Jonathan stayed to finish his bachelor’s degree
He had a couple jobs lined up in New York upon graduation, but he was rejected from all the positions. Some interviewers found him unsettling, which did upset him somewhat.
He recently moved back to Hawkins and taken up his old job of being a photographer for the Hawkins post
The city life made him more open than the closed off person he used to be. However, he still prefers to remain isolated and observing others from afar.
He’s lowkey upset that he’s back in Hawkins. It’s not that he hates Hawkins, but he finally thought he would be able to make a life for himself in New York. However, he’s stuck in the same place as before.
Personality
Still very intelligent, graduated with a high GPA. He wasn’t partying every weekend at NYU.
Still prefers to remain isolated, apart from everyone else.
Still protective of will and his mother, many believe that Jonathan moved back to Hawkins to take care of his family
