brenda graham
low on self esteem, so you run on gasoline. i think there's a flaw in my code. these voices won't leave me alone. well, my heart is gold and my hands are cold. are you deranged like me? are you strange like me?
Photography was still a large part of jonathan’s life. He took a lot of photos in New York before moving back to Hawkins. It was almost surreal that he attended NYU and lived in New York. He had been sharing his photos for the past hour with the other individual. “I took this at the New York historical society museum… it’s pretty cool, right?” In a way, going to college taught him to embrace the things that made him unique… as cliche as that sounded.
SHE shrugged to the question, but couldn't help herself at staring at the images. she may look nonchalant about them, yet it was the opposite on what she actually thought. ❝ Yeah, i guess. i wouldn’t say it’s the best thing i’ve seen, but it’s--... decent. anyway, how was new york? overly crowded, i assume? ❞
☆゚*・゚┊emma mackey, she/her + 23, cis female┊❝ take a chill pill, that’s just « brenda graham », i heard they’ve been in hawkins since « 1985 ». i always catch a glimpse of them at « benny’s burgers », humming to the tune of « pour some sugar on me + def leppard » when they think no one’s looking. also, they’re like totally known as the « lost soul » of town, so i’d keep my eye on them. seriously. ❞
this is a mess and it feels like a mess, but tbh i forgot how i mostly wanted to play brenda oof.
tw: slight emotional abuse content.
about
if she could describe herself, it would be bad luck. if she could choose her spirit animal, it would be black cat. mainly because that’s how she feels about most of her life, ever since she was born. she grew up in a house where yelling was typical, her parents would talk to her one at a time just to talk about the other, and eventually, her parents got a divorce when she was ten. she mainly lived with her dad since her mom moved out of the country and she didn’t want to move anywhere. however, as months turned into years, father wasn’t interested in commitment and would have a new girl by his side almost every other two months. at first, she didn’t speak up about it because it’s her father’s life, not her’s, but when she was around fifteen or sixteen, she soon got into arguments with him that resulted in her just staying in her room.
brenda was always good in school. she was usually one of the students to raise their hand, did her homework, and asked teachers for extra credit. all she wanted was to move out of town and regretted staying with her father. years later, her efforts paid off as she got accepted into a college. she took writing as a major and worked on children’s stories. however, she was lost inspiration for it and soon decided to live in hawkins when news spread about a mall being ruined in hopes of gaining creative ideas.
tl;dr her parents divorced when she was young and lived with her father while growing up, but hated it. she’s was working on children stories, but has major writer’s block and moved to hawkins when hearing about starcourt mall
details
character inspo
clare edwards (degrassi), john bender (the breakfast club)
she prefers to keep things to herself and would rather have a close group of friends to trust
she can be rather rude and says whatever comes to mind without a second thought
brenda’s very confident in her writing though. she’s spoken to her professors about her ideas, received peer reviews, and just takes in any criticism about her writing to improve more. so at this point, she believes she’s great, but also thinks there’s room for improvement
even when she’s seen as rude, harsh, or cold, she’s still good deep down. it’s just hard for the girl to show it when it comes to strangers. for example, she’s protective of her friends and supports them
aesthetics
graffiti walls, worn out denim jackets, staying in detention after school, the clicking of a pen, using music to drown out people, slamming the door, screaming into a pillow, broken hearts
style
she's very into denim. denim jackets, denim pants, denim skirts, denim on denim. other than that, she also owns a black, fake leather jacket that she loves to wear a lot. her closet is mainly filled with tops that are either plaid or one color (mostly black)

she blames her father for this, but she’s not interested in being committed to a relationship yet. after seeing how her didn’t stick to one relationship after the divorce, she questions why was he married in the first place. plus, she thinks she’ll be like her father, tearing apart a family, and doesn’t want that
she also feels her parents didn’t love her enough and thinks that’s a reason why she has commitment issues
she uses an alias when her stories are published as she prefers to keep her real name for others hidden. plus, she thinks it’s cute to go by miss bear for the children
for now, she keeps her writing a secret since she’s trying to use the town for her creative ideas anyway
i forgot i gave her the label lost soul, so basically she feels lost about herself in general (i guess). she feels unsure if she likes herself or if she wants to try changing herself for the better
Chewing gum, she had her hands inside the pockets of her jacket as she wandered throughout town, not necessarily looking for something to do or somewhere to go. the girl was just bored. she pursed her lips for a moment before letting out a heavy sigh a second later. ❝ I’m not the only one who thinks this town is extremely dull, right? i mean, c’mon, it looks as if there’s hardly anything to do around here. ❞ @1986start
