jax chung; seventeen - tape m. {{ staying in my p l a y pretend where the fun ain't got no END. can't go home alone again need someone to numb the pain. }}
âIâm honored.â He deadpanned, looking the girl up and down. He wasnât the best person to announce something like this to, it wasnât as if heâd help spread it around. Itâd be a miracle if he even decided to show up to the party. âI doubt anyoneâs in the partying mood.â
âAs you should be,â she beamed, not catching on that he was far from delighted by the extending of her invitation. In Jaxâs mind, it was an honor to be invited to her party, and at that, it was the perfect time to be throwing one, âAu contraire! Youâre the first to actually hear it, from me, but Lucyâs facebook post had, like, forty likes by the time I arrived at school. Thatâs forty people whoâre in the party mood-- some of them even used the âwowâ reaction! Câmon, Diego; a party is just what you need.â
it took a moment, or, more than a moment, for Olivia to process everything being said to her by the girl. she had zoned out to the point where she mustâve been in the Twilight Zone, having to be snapped out of her head by the sudden thud of Jax on the table. âisâŚis this your way of coping?â the girl asked, eyebrows raised. it wasnât a quick jab or anything, just a genuine question. âi, uh, when is the party?â
âCoping with what?â It was Jaxâs turn, now, to feel behind in the conversation. Her mind was going a mile a minute, so focused solely on plans for the night ahead that it took her too long to realize what Olivia was referring to-- âWith Kara? God, no. Thereâs nothing to cope with.â Ha. As if. However, no matter how much her expression might have soured at the very insinuation she was throwing a party to cope with the tapes, she brightened up again pretty quick, âWell, Iâm saying itâll start at eight, but factoring in pre-drinks and all, that means itâll probably start closer to six-- the sooner the better. Will you be able to make it?â
Carson had an eyebrow raised at the girl. She knew where it was going when she said her parents would be out of town. âIâm in. I love a good party.â She smiled. Carson was a party goer for sure. She never missed one unless someone she didnât like was hosting. âWhat should I bring?â
âWell then, youâre going to love tonight. Some of the greatest parties this boring little town has seen have all been orchestrated by yours truly,â or at least, she was taking credit. It was rare enough that Jax was able to throw a party at her own house-- her parents would never have allowed it-- but, she was pretty good at convincing members of her inner circle to, âDrink, duh. Thatâs the big thing everyoneâs gotta bring-- I can only stock so much, and the last thing we want is to run out. And friends, donât forget friends-- I want the place to be a health and safety hazard, if you know what I mean.â
normally ryan would try to ignore people who tried talking to him, but in this situation he was interested in what jacqueline had to say. âa party?â he asked with a laugh as he leaned back in his seat. âi agree that its long overdue,â he laughed, âiâll be there,â he said with a grin, âand iâll invite the guys.â
âNot a party, Ryan, my sweet, summer child- the party. The only place worth being tonight,â she was so, absolutely pleased with herself, and it showed in her grin-- practically ear to ear, âBring yourself, bring the guys, bring drink... bring a little something extra, if you know what I mean. Between you and the jocks and my friends and I, we can cheer everyone up.â
Brown eyes wondered up to the ceiling as Addie walked through the school corridors. As one hand popped a strawberry in her mouth, the other was tapping away on the clear container to the music pumping through her headphones. She was trying to distract herself, worried that somehow her secret on the tapes had gotten out and everyone was now silently judging her. Instead, Addie tried to focus on the soft music and what dance steps would go well with them. An arabesque here or maybe a soutenu? Her thoughts, however, were interrupted dramatically as she smacked right into someone. âShit!â Her hands jumped to her headphones, pulling them down as she frowned apologetically. âIâm so sorry, I wasnât paying attention.â Now she was probably being judged.
In the middle of spreading the news of the party she intended to throw to even more students, Jax was thrown completely off guard when someone crashed into her, flying forward a step or two before she managed to steady herself. âWatch where youâre going--â she started, turning on her heel and ready to say worse before the surprise of who it was shut her up... for a minute, at least. âAdelaide,â she said as way of greeting, "Youâre a little distracted, huh?â
âWow, what an honor!â Felix exclaims sarcastically, âI think you need better party planning skills. I mean, what if I planned on crashing it with a little tip to the local police station?â Felix questions some more, a hand laid upon his chin in thought. Though he wasnât serious, he placed a fair warning. He watches curiously as the girl fidgets with his pen, the thought process taking entirely too long to sink into her brain. âYeah right, because of her. Iâm not a doctor but, Iâm fairly sure parties arenât the cure to âmove onâ from loss. Far from it really.â He mutters. Felix didnât like to speak about it, but found it unsettling when she was only referred to like an object. Leaning back onto the table, he uses his elbow to nudge the girl. âIâll think about it if you would just get off the table.â He tries to settle with the other, âYou should really learn to be a bit subtle.â
âBut you wouldnât do that,â the hand tapping the pen stilled for only a moment as if to enunciate the seriousness of her words, as she gazed down at him, âBecause youâre a party pooper, but not that much of a party pooper.â If you asked Jax, he should have been honored to be invited-- and he definitely shouldnât have been placing a threat like that. âYou said it yourself; youâre not a doctor,â back to fidgeting once again, Jax went so far as to avert her gaze, âDwelling is dumb. Sheâs gone, weâre not, we all have to move on eventually.â That was especially harsh, she knew, but she couldnât say anything else-- anything else might have betrayed that she wasnât quite as numb to the subject as she was letting on. âSubtle isnât my forte,â it was said in the same way she might have protested being elbowed, voice a little too high as she took the hint, finally, and hopped back down-- though she was quick to round to the front of his table and lean across it on her elbows, gaze level with his own. âYouâll have fun, I promise. No one ever comes to my house and doesnât have fun-- there are like, laws against it. Thereâll be plenty of drink,â voice sing song, she batted her eyelashes as if it would help in any way.
Felixâs pen drops from his hand to the table, the girlâs forward approach startling him. âWhy am I the first person to know?â He squints, genuinely curious. On a normal day he would most likely to be the last person in the book to be told. âIâm flattered, but donât you think itâs just a bit insensitive?â He ponders, crossing his arms over his chest somewhat similar to a parental unitâs reaction. His head shakes disapprovingly. âAs much as a Jax Chung festivity sounds like quote, unquote âfunâ, consider me out. I have things to do and I wonât be contributing to this recipe for disaster. Now get off the table, I was busy if you couldnât tell.â
"Isnât that obvious? I saw you first!â Bubbling with over the top energy, Jax could barely keep herself still, and she plucked his pen from where it had fallen to tap it, over and over, against her knee. âInsensitive- how?â She blinked, a too long moment passing before the penny dropped, âOh, cause of her? Pft. Right. If you ask me, a party is exactly what everyone needs to move on- whatâs insensitive about that?â It seemed to be the very definition of âinsensitiveâ, but, that wasnât exactly sinking in. To say that she was disappointed with the reaction sheâd gotten from the very first person to be invited wouldâve been an understatement-- lips turning pouty, Jax mirrored his arms crossing, letting his pen fall back to the table as she did, âIt will be fun, and, if you donât come, youâre gonna regret it-- câmon. Iâm sure your things can wait.â As for sitting on his table, still... she didnât even acknowledge his request, keeping herself perched in place.
âYou are the very first person to hear my very good news- if I were you, Iâd be considering this my lucky day,â avoiding any number of chairs she could have taken and hopping straight up onto the table, instead, Jaxâs red lipped smile was huge as she leaned forward on her crossed legs. She was treating what she had to say next like it was some big secret, in spite of the fact that by midday, it would already have spread around the entire school, âMy parental units are heading out of town today-- itâs a whole big thing, some meeting of churches or something-- and you know what that means, right? Consider this an invitation extended to you, and anyone you wanna bring along. Everyone at this school is long overdue a famous Jax Chung party.âÂ
greetings!! iâve accidentally set myself up for a sorta busy day, so, i said iâd write my lil intro and some points about jacqueline now instead of later!!
my nameâs rachel (iâve also gone by vina), iâm eighteen, and i live in ireland so iâm part of the gmt timezone. iâve been roleplaying for about six years now, writing for even longer, and i have had so much experience from way too many fandoms, bc iâm super into so many books/shows/movies (mostly marvel & prison break) (i apologize in advance for any tuesday night absences- i will probably be glued to the tv waiting for the new eps for the next 8 weeks). iâm honestly such a boring trash person who enjoys writing drama(tm) and i suck at thinking up fun facts abt me and stuff but :-) u can click the readmore to be told some fun facts abt jacqueline iâm so much better at describing characters~~
meet jacqueline âjaxâ chung
sheâs seventeen years old and the youngest of a family of four- she has one brother, only a year or so older than herself, and two older sistersÂ
until she was 15, she didnât know what it was like to live in a town (or even a country; sheâs been to places dotted around the world, too) for more than a few months at a time. her dad is a christian preacher, and he and his wife dragged their children anywhere there was need for years until a position came up in his favorite place to date, and they settled, locally
though at first she found small town life to be boring, and was a bit of an outsider in all respects, jacqueline soon fell in with the wrong sort of crowd- the it one. this sort of a group seemed to be the perfect fit for her, and pretty soon, she wasnât just in with the it crowd, but the leader of the it crowd. donât be fooled by this social standing, however- jax still is, to this day, all alone. the people she surrounds herself with are friends on paper but not in practice, following her around and following her lead when it comes to doing whatever it is sheâs doing, but theyâre never really there when she needs them. donât get me wrong, though- sheâs not there for them either.Â
kara called her a hurricane, on her tape - and thatâs the way i see her. she is a hurricane of a girl, sweeping people up in the storm that is her before letting them drop, suddenly. sheâs flighty and out to live her life to the fullest in all the illegal ways she can, but she doesnât tend to take other people into consideration. sheâs messy and wild and she does everything that she shouldnât do, but thereâs an emptiness to her, too- a feeling she tries to fill with parties and hook ups and drink and drugs.
thatâs one of the big things i know about jax- sheâs an addict. the only way she gets through days at this point (especially after the tapes) is by taking a little something- and it doesnât matter what that something is. sheâs reckless- she doesnât stick to one thing.
house angel, street devil - thatâs jax. at home, sheâs the sugary sweet preachers daughter she was raised to be, whoâs never done anything wrong in her life. everywhere else, sheâs a terror. iâd go so far as to say, then, that sheâs really setting herself up for self destruction, through everything she does.Â
