i’m going to be heading off soon now i’ve finished my replies as it is...too late here in england...but!
just wanted to say that i’ve only been writing here for one day but oh god, i love it! you’re all so talented and i love the muses being brought to life- little women characters who? anyway -- feel free to hmu to plot at all if you want 👌 going to crack on with an intro tomorrow!
her cousin always held a brightening presence on par with her own ebullient nature, and it was only to be expected then, with the addition of the close proximity in their age, that they would enjoy the company of one another. someone with whom she could recline into any wilder elements of her nature that otherwise might remain a little tied up. her elder sisters had enough to deal with, marianne concerned that they lost sight of enjoyment at times, but, with winnie, she hadn’t yet felt that to be the case, the proposition just put forward proof of that thought. days like these, the notion of adventure, they were tinted in soft hues, warm oranges and pinks, rather than the colder blue of later years. tilting her head to the side, straighter locks only a gentle sway, kind mischief presented itself upon her. “exactly my wishes winnie, exactly them! those three things sound beautiful, and make saying yes to adventures a simply irresistible prospect- i would love to,”.
she had met one valence already, and was quite determined to mark another from the list, if only to feed her budding curiosity for the short-term, or to garner a wider circle of acquaintances for the long-term. the future was never something she awaited with too much thought, instead allowing each day to be a new stroke of the brush, painting her canvas of life, but knowing more people was something she could simply not refuse.
she didn’t even realise however, who she was coming across, not holding the specific location of the house in which the valence family resided to mark her out as one of them. a new figure was still someone of marked interest though, and if anything, common politeness dictated they at least acknowledge one another in some way whilst passing. so, she turned her own direction of walking towards the small party, lips parted bright across her, feet dainty with a light-hearted step as she proceeded onwards, slight shoulders weighted with little.
“a heavenly one, i must agree indeed. just the sort that brightens the mood tenfold- i simply couldn’t resist the urge to take myself out in it,”. the encouraging wave adding confidence onto the already naturally cheerful girl.
top writing tip for this rp: play the little women original motion picture soundtrack on repeat and cry endlessly at the sheer heavenly beauty of it all. 10/10 works everytime, would recommend.
“they’re beautiful, aren’t they? the flowers you have here are a true delight,” marianne spoke, scarcely an introduction in sight. but she’d not yet truly spoken to the valence family, since their moving in. they seemed an intriguing lot, though so seldom had she viewed them. better late than never though, seeing as the chances of any formal introduction felt more and more distant- she was simply determined to meet them regardless, considering the close proximity of the two houses. seeing someone of her own age near enough outside, she’d chosen to venture near, her gaze latching onto where the gaze of the other wandered, as she had dawned closer. repeating her first words, she then let out a small chuckle. “oh, my manners! let me introduce myself- marianne irwin, i live in the property across from your own,”.
the irwin household had never held an affinity for silence. an impossibility, silence felt at times, when the exuberance of so many a girl was present within, especially in the years of their younger times. the years in which anything seemed reality, heads filled with happier times. as of the past few years, elements of that had started to slip away a little, though she refused to let them go entirely, values of joy and conscious naivety sticking stubborn to her heart. they would never turn away someone from joining their ranks, though the bond of sisters was always the core of their household, and jane had always been a pleasing addition, quiet as she might’ve seemed at times. it was refreshing, in a sense, to have the company of her around, more introverted than the typically extroverted nature of her family around one another. it put a smile on her face to see the other, a welcome nod springing light at the given query. “i would find it most dire to be stuck inside indeed- you are most correct! besides, i imagine there is a greater muse for mending amongst the beauty of nature, than inside” she spoke, words pealing from her in conversation. “why, of course- i’d never refuse your company, the more the merrier,”.
the future felt so often a gorgeously blank canvas, full of possibilities waiting to be awakened and sprung to life, possibilities that she would snatch with both hands when they came, if they were appealing enough to her. oh, she would admit that her heart did feel a dear caring when it came to the thought of marriage, that prospect that loomed so close but so far- if her elder sisters hadn’t yet found themselves a suitor, she imagined she still must wait an annoying while- but in spite of all that, she tried, and succeeded, to live life with an ease of loving lack of care. “if that’s how your heart turns, it’s beautiful enough. you’ve not a selfish bone in your body, have you? you’d made a lovely mother one day, i can only imagine,” a sweet sigh raising from her lips with a natural sigh of a smile at the thought, eliza had always been so caring, that once more evident. “oh...what tapestries i could weave with the thoughts that have come to me across the years- i feel myself ever-changing in desires though...there’s so much one can do, and yet, so hard to hold to,” she did not mind the conventions of her societal position as a woman, she enjoyed carrying herself as a feminine creature, but the idea of having that and the ability to follow any dream- a beautiful thought!
brows knotted together, a frowning of attempting deep thought, striving to have her sister look past her own weighted viewpoint, and into the one marianne sought to provide for her. admittedly, it was easier for her. she, for a while, could still hold the blind naivety that more carefree a life brought to a girl, whilst the pressures were mounting on the likes of eliza. heavy is the head of those oldest, forced to wear the crown of responsibility. it was painful to hear that such dependency on the views of others had led to something that sounded so crushing, a loss of self-identity, marianne accepting the gesture from her sister with a slight sorrow that sparked a fire. “i suppose it isn’t half as easy as i make it out to sound, is it? i wish i could just say strive to be whatever you yearn to be! but alas, no.” a sigh, she considered. “in a sense, it’s...ambition, isn’t it? not the expectations others have, but what you aspire to do with yourself, individually- i myself try and fly with the wind to find myself without a jot of thought- but maybe take a glance at your own aspirations,”.
“dear sister,” soft voice attempting to be soothing, marianne always felt a tad concerned when it came to talks like these. the youngest of the irwin sisters, she could attempt to play the comforther when needed, but, as her emotions could always get the best of her with far too much of an ease, it felt a task better left to others. patience was a virtue never found in her heart, too reckless in suggestion. “you are always enough, and i believe it a foolish thing to go round wasting time on what others wish you to be. defy their expectations, and be your beautiful self,” a huff of emphasis, conformity for the sake of others hardly sounded a pretty notion.
fingers stirred with a yearning across the fresh texture of the grass absent-mindedly, lazy smile flickering bright across the rose-tinted porcelain features of the woman. the day an idyllic sort, it felt difficult to be expected to concentrate at all, thankful at least that her days of schooling were long behind her. learning had been all well and good, but frightfully stuffy to sit in the small room for so long a period of hours. no, she always felt more comfortable in the constant bursts of fresh air that the out of doors life provided for her, whimsical amongst the flowers. however, there was some level of work still be done, one that she would pursue gladly, other hand moving to prop up her paper, the indulgence of creative arts always a pleasure. a scrunch of her nose small as she concentrated, another distraction soon however, came sailing in, head tilting up to notice someone walking near. “if only the weather would be so fine as this each day, i should wish i never had purpose to do anything- it’s absolutely capital!” merry voice called out, effigy of youth brimming from within.
