Listen, I have nothing against Masahiro Sakurai. In fact I think heās an amazing game developer and really puts his all into his games. I really want him to take a break after finishing Ultimate, becuase he could quite possibly work himself to death.Ā
Note that what Iām about to say has no affect on my opinion on Ultimate. The game will still be amazing, and Iāll still play it This my eyes donāt work no more, but I have one simple thing to say:
Making Shadow an Assit Trophy was a mistake.
Hold on, give me a moment. First off, Iām not a Shadow supporter. During the Grinch Leak days I saw Shadow as just a happy little addition to the roster. I really never wanted him in as badly as others. But I do honestly feel that Sakuraiās sole mistake with Ultimate, as of pre release, is having Shadow as an Assit Trophy.
Shadow has risen to become one of the most requested Echo Fighters since the term was introduced back in E3. He made his debut on the first Sonic game on Nintendo. He is, more or less, a literal clone of Sonic. People had hope when Knuckles was announced as the new Sonic Assit Trophy, but as we found out it was a red hearing alongside the Moon-Skull Kid debacle to hide that Isabella was switched with Kappān.Ā
Still, I feel like Shadow was a missed opportunity. Sure he wouldnāt have been the most creative character, being an Echo, but it still would have made his fans really happy. Not to mention his final smash could have been just the same as Sonic, which would have made him substantially easier to create then all other Echo Fighters, especially Ken.
What Iām trying to say is, Shadow could have really been an easy to do fighter, and would have livened up the final Smash Direct (Iāll talk more on that later). And itās odd that Shadow is the only one a feel this way about. Yeah, I would have loved to see Bomberman, Zero and Skull Kid as fighters, but at the very least theyāre still in the game. Shadow, though, justā¦doesnāt feel right.Ā
Again, nothing against Sakurai or his masterpiece of a fighting game. And I wonāt say thatĀ āHe should have worked harderā crap. He has put so much work in this game that one fighter wonāt change my mind on it at all. Itās just feel like a missed opportunity.
