Ok now that I'm showered and comfortably parked in a soft, cushy chair...
The ride was beautiful in parts. Unrelenting at times. Wet, sunny, and exhausting. We started the ride around 7:30 and ended around 6:30. Taking road bikes on the VA Creeper Trail it's a different kind of difficult. With a completely rigid frame you feel everything. Every rock, stick, leaf... Absent of one minor crash we had really good luck. Surprisingly we had no flat tires. My chain fell off in a really random spot that was inconsequential at most. The continued thought of what Type One Diabetics go through definitely helped me power through. I also had a great peloton to ride with! There were definitely times where I thought "this is far enough", but I didn't want to give up on my group.
I am blown away by the amount of financial support everyone has contributed leading up to this event. I cannot tell you how touched and amazed I am by your generosity. The fundraising goes through the end of the year so...it's not too late! 😉 Thank you all again for your support.
