No matter how you might personally feel about Kobe, I don’t think you can see a gigantic grown ass man like Shaq bawling openly on TV and not be moved. I have to say that it’s been sad but refreshing to see so many men, especially athletes we think of as being hypermasculine or whatever, just letting all their grief and hurt hang out, cameras be damned. Like dudes have just as much right as women to express anguish and pain, but they often keep their emotions bottled up. And I find it strangely beautiful that a tragedy has guys out there talking about wanting to say “I love you” more regularly to their friends and family. I hope people really take that shit to heart.
