Dear Diary Zine Fest 2019 Application!!!!

The idea behind Dear Diary Zine Fest began when a couple of seasoned East Bay zinesters felt jaded about the current state of zine fests. Disappointed with the high number of expensive art zines and low number of trashy, cut-and-paste zines, we decided to start a new kind of zine fest. Dear Diary Zine Fest, a text-heavy fest full of feelings, aims to amplify marginalized voices and celebrate the healing and transformative power of telling our stories through perzines. Some of our favorite zines are perzines, some of our favorite zines were made last minute using whatever scraps of paper were lying around, nothing fancy. We want this to be for the freaks, the queers, people with no online presence, people too shy to submit to fests, younger folks, first time, and long time zine makers. Let it all out and share it with us! Accessibility info: The 2019 fest will take place at Humanist Hall in Oakland, CA. There is an accessible entrance to the space on 28th and Summit street in addition to the front entrance at 390 27th street. DDZF seeks to prioritize accessibility and would like to assist with any other accommodations. Reach out to us at [email protected].

April is the season of renewal, when buds burst and nature is reborn. We know it’s been awhile but here we are, re-emerging! This month, we are honored to have been invited to participate in the university’s rotating monthly crowdfunding effort — which we hope will bear fruit! Each donation tier comes with a whimsical thank-you “perk,” from steamy correspondence, to Emma’s famous blintz recipe, to classic cards from the EGP.
