It's so easy to love someone when things are perfect and everything is wonderful. But to love someone when things get difficult, when they're not being perfect, when they're messing up, and mistakes are made, I think that allows you to see how much love there really is. Anyone can love someone who is doing and saying all the right things, being everything you want and need, when they've got it all together, when they have it all figured out. But to love someone at their lowest, to love someone despite how broken they feel, when they're lost, when you are willing to stand by them no matter how challenging or difficult things may be, I think that is the kind of love is more beautiful. I think that kind of love is a lot more meaningful.
There's a saying for this that I live by: "If you can't handle me at my worst, you don't deserve me at my best."
@safelyused & there's a saying for what you wrote that I live by: "I will fight for you, but I will never fight over you. If someone else has your attention over me, they can have you."
Collateral damage
Last week I gave a fire safety talk and nobody paid any attention. It’s my own fault for using Powerpoint. Powerpoint is boring. People learn in lots of different ways, but experience is the best teacher.
