“Well, thank you, then. You’re looking quite nice yourself, Jean. You scrub up well, chara.”
“You are welcome.” Jean replied with a kinder smile than he usually offered anyone. “Merci, mon ami. I reasoned that I may as well make an appearence. I can not hide away from all events that take place inside of this school.”
“Yeah, they did a brilliant job with everything and yes. I’m in a dress that my parents sent to me which wasn’t completely too hidious.” Charlotte told the onlooker as she grabbed some pumpkin juice, wrapping her fingers around the cup. “Don’t be too shocked by life.”
“I wasn’t shocked- you just look stunning, Charlotte.” Jean told the witch simply, knowing that he had probably looked a bit shocked but not for the reasons she thought. “The color suits you.” He added, giving a small smile then.
“I HATE dress robes. Look at me.”
“You look fine- well, maybe not when you’re making that face that screams ‘I’m uncomfortable.’”
cora-peakes:
“It’s beautiful. And absolutely needed.” She grinned laughing. “You’d look better with some color and joy around you.”
“I can not decide if that was an insult or not.” Jean said, joking a bit now that he had relaxed from the initial sticker assault.
profsebastian-nolan:
“Right.” Sebastian sighed, looking around his desk at the mess that it was. He ran a hand through his hair before gesturing towards the seat in front of his desk. “Well. You’re not required to take my course past fifth year level.” He muttered as he thought on the question for a moment, his eyes getting a bit distracted as he looked at the student who looked familiar for whatever reason he couldn’t put his finger on it. “It really just depends if you’d like to take my course next year. Depending on how well you do, I could test you to be with the other seventh years in the NEWTS. It’s honesty just based on your preference, Mr. Labelle.”
Waiting as the professor considered his question, Jean nodded once the man began to explain his thoughts on the matter. It all made enough sense, but Jean knew things could easily be complicated once more by his family’s decisions over the summer. “If I take a qualifying exam for seventh level Astronomy- is there any way that would count to get me in for the same course in Beauxbatons if I am to transfer back?” He wondered, pushing a hand through his hair then as he so often did when a bit stressed over something.
tristan-flint:
“Good point, Labelle.” He didn’t know why he liked the Hufflepuff so much, but he had watched him all season and he liked to think it was because he admired the effort he put into the sport. “Not a problem. Just give it back when you’re done, alright?” Tristan shrugged. “That’s very true. Okay, well, is your captain planning on cutting anyone? Someone not pulling their weight?”
“Of course.” Jean agreed over returning the quill. He considered the other boy’s question for a moment before shaking his head a bit. “Not that I know of, but it is up in the air whether I will be here or at Beauxbatons next year so that could leave Hufflepuff vying for two beaters plus a seeker since Molly will be graduating.”
sylviakettleburn:
“If you find it so offensive, then maybe you should leave.” Sylvia scowled, tucking a lock of hair behind her ear defiantly. "You’re hardly someone I should be explaining things to.”
“I would if you were not loitering around the courtyard. The smoke does not just stay in your immediate area, you know that, oui?” Jean said, his accent a bit thicker as his words held a bit more annoyance. “And why is that?” The man wondered, raising a brow then.
cora-peakes:
“Because when you surround yourself with pretty things it makes you happy, and happy makes you look better.”
“And an owl sticker is pretty?” Jean asked, looking at the small picture now stuck to his bag with indifference. “I think I look well enough as is.”
cora-peakes:
“The stickers won’t stop the functionality but it will make it nicer to look at.”
“Why does it need to be nice to look at? It is a bag.”
cora-peakes:
“Your bag is boring, it needs to be more exciting. The stickers help with that.”
“Bags are supposed to be functional, not exciting. My bag is functional, so it was fine as is.”
profsebastian-nolan:
Sebastian looked up, noticing the Hufflepuff that he’d only seen in the halls. He’d never had him in his class, but he figured there was no reason to turn away. “Of course. Remind me of your name, Mr…” He paused, almost hating that he wasn’t aware of the student’s name.
“Labelle.” Jean replied, knowing that there was no reason really for the man to know who he was, but he had been told that Professor Nolan was one of the more helpful professors in the school which is why he went to him. He moved further into the room then, taking the interaction as a sign to enter. “With exams coming up and me taking your fifth year exams though I am in my sixth year- I was wondering if that would effect my testing for next year as far as if I do not transfer back to Beaxbatons. The break between OWLS and NEWTS is just a manner of workload, oui? Not anything significant that will effect my testing schedule further?”
tristan-flint:
“Well, speculation is better than nothing.” Tristan shrugged as he reached down into his bag. “It’s your lucky day, Labelle.” He muttered, grabbing the extra quill and handing it to the other.
“I suppose, but is false information worse than none at all?” Jean wondered before smiling a bit as the boy dug out a quill for him. “Merci, mon ami. You’ve saved me a trip to the basement.” He told the other, moving to take a seat then to hold up his end of the exchange. “Well, it is easy enough to guess who will be staying on the team for next year, oui?”
profsebastian-nolan:
“My door was closed for a reason.” Sebastian mumbled, not looking up at who entered his office at that moment.
“I apologize, professor. I just had a quick question about transferring credits.” Jean said, stopping half-in and half-out of the doorway now that he had been reprimanded by the professor he hadn’t spoken to even in classes as he had opted out of taking astronomy.
tristan-flint:
“I’m a bit pre-occupied here. So unless you have the names of all the possible people who are going to be on the Quidditch teams next year, I suggest you leave me alone.” Tristan muttered as he went through his list of people who were graduating, possible people who were trying out for open positions, etc. for a mock article he was writing.
“I could give my speculations a go, but there is no way of knowing for a fact.” Jean said, shrugging his shoulders lightly then. “But I was just wondering if you perhaps had a quill I could borrow. Mine just gave up on me.”
“What are you staring at?” The blonde scrunched her nose, flicking the ash from her cigarette in the other’s direction.
“Your offending stick of death.” Jean said flatly, eyeing the cigarette with a bit of distaste as she flicked ash at him. “Is there a reason for you killing your lungs? Or are you going for the ridiculous aesthetic appeal that so many are convinced come along with smoking?”
