Colin paused and looked at Jedrek point blank. “Would you believe me if I said no? I just am the kind of person to focus on the present moment and not worry about the future. I handle what is right in front of me, trusting that in the end everything works out for good. Right now, I’m just blowing off steam with a few drinks. Then I’ll face my next moment.”

"You must not be a very good chess player then." Jedrek let his comments slip off his lips. It amazed him how people could go through life without much of a plan, even without a plan at all. What of the consequences and the repercussions?

Juliette shrugged, “For someone who has no qualms about taking off her shirt and dancing on someone else’s table, she is extremely sensitive when said person asks for her to get down.”

"How are you, Jedrek?"

"I've given up on trying to understand such people. The only logical explanation is that she is not completely sane."

"Fine, I suppose. Life has been a touch slow lately but the school year is drawing near already." He sighed before turning to look at her, eyebrow raised ever so slightly. "And you?"

"That’s good. Hopefully she’ll show up again soon, bright and full of life as ever." Colin sipped at the scotch and considered Jedrek’s words. The other man was right, cheap shots and freedom was what he really wanted. "True that. It might suck to be on the run but at least I’m not fighting for something I can’t stand. Though I try not to get all philosophical about my life."

"Are you more the type to ignore your problems in hope they go away?" Jedrek raised an eyebrow in question, leaning forward just slightly in his seat as he placed his whiskey back down on the counter top. His eyes scanned over Colin, analyzing him and trying to discover an answer to his inquiry himself. "I'll consider that to be a yes, considering you've come to find refuge at a bar."

Colin sipped at his scotch and nodded. “I did see her a while back to reassure myself that after all that chaos she was still alive.” He smirked and nodded. “I threw a couple cheap shots and got out of there. At that point I realize just how low I’ve sunk and it pissed me off so I came here to drink alone. There, now you have the story of my life.”

"Oh, I've seen her after the attack as well. She made it her mission to ensure my stay at St. Mungo's wasn't too unbearable. But since my leave..." He shook his head from side to side as he trailed off, a large part of him wondering just what the younger MacMillan was up to. "What would you have preferred, Colin- a few cheap shots or capture? The answer to that question might make you feel a touch better about this whole ordeal."

Juliette shrugged, looking at the man with an unimpressed look. “Somethings can’t be helped, I suppose.”

"More like some people," he sighed, reaching for the whiskey that sat in front of him. His head shook from side to side, not impressed in the slightest with the one girl's antics.

"That doesn’t surprise me." Colin called for another drink and settled into his seat. When questioned he laughed somewhat bitterly. "Well, what hasn’t happened? I haven’t seen my sister in weeks and that always puts me on edge. But the most recent thing was a run in with some snatchers who weren’t Brice Flint. Words and blows were exchanged. Seems the world is against me."

"Now that you mention it, I haven't seen much of Catherine either. Though, I suppose we can blame that on the Ministry and their intensified regimen." As he thought aloud, Jedrek leaned back on his chair, causing the old wood to squeak together in protest. "Sounds difficult. Though you seem to have made it out in one piece so I suppose it can't be utterly terrible."

Colin sipped at his drink and nodded in agreement to everything Jedrek said. Although Colin wasn’t sure how he felt about the other man he had the sense to take what the other said into consideration. “You’re right. On both accounts.” He turned to take in the other bloke more fully. “But you would be better company this evening then I would be.”

"That's a comment I'm not told very often." As he took a long sip of his whiskey, his eyebrows furrowed together further, Jedrek attempting to make sense of the man's comment. There was likely more to the story than he already knew. Though he ought not to press further, Jedrek didn't know any better and his curiosity got the better of him. "Something happen to put you in a sour mood?"

Colin just wanted to be left alone. It was a rare feeling but when it came it came with a vengeance. So when a pixie sized blonde flirted with him the runaway found himself blowing her off in the most obvious manner possible. When the bloke standing near him commented on the interchange Colin was ready to hex his head off. Then he saw who it was so he decided against that course of action. “Well, I wasn’t interested and she pushed the issue. Feel free to pursue her and comfort her in her rage. I’m drinking alone tonight.”

"Best to leave her be I believe," Jedrek muttered as he picked up his glass, the whiskey's smell potent as it drew closer to his lips. With eyes narrowed slightly, he gazed at the exit where the girl had just disappeared. Though it was clear Colin wasn't too pleased with Jedrek's commentary, the man seemed unfazed. Their relationship- or whatever you might want to call it- was not the friendliest, to say the least. Though he certainly wouldn't hold back, Jedrek hadn't meant his words to be insulting. Just doing his best to inform. "Besides, I don't particularly find her appealing. Pretty, I suppose but, based on her actions, far too dependent and needy."

Jedrek peered over at the strange girl as she stomped off, her hands clenched into tight fists. Shaking his head from side to side, he turned to face the culprit that had caused her fury. "Well, I believe her exact words were..."

"Not just for a legacy… are you that simple minded? What, no real relationship with mummy and daddy growing up? Do you not understand the concept of family because I’m certain I could spell it out for you, if you so wished."

Jedrek sighed. He hadn't meant for his words to hint at his childhood, nor for them to give her permission to psychoanalyze him further. "I wouldn't consider myself a family man. It's not my sort of lifestyle."

No, we aren’t lumping the two together Yaxley. But what, you going to remain alone for the rest of your life? Never get married, have kids? Leave behind a legacy for no one to live up to? Sounds rather shitty to me.”

"And what? Foster children I don't particularly care for simply just so I might build onto that legacy?" Jedrek shook his head from side to side, eyes squinted slightly. "I think I'll pass."

Again, what do they matter if the only one celebrating is you? How lonely it must be at the top.

Are we lumping human interaction with sex now? Because I do believe I can still communicate without the latter.

"Sorry… I did tell the other girls to keep the dorm’s room door closed, but apparently they didn’t listen to me… or just didn’t cared." 

"I guess I can go see her one more time. I’ll do that tomorrow after breakfast." She smiled. "Well, can I go back to bed now?"

"Of course," Jedrek nodded, gesturing for her to continue on down the corridor. "But be sure to head straight there. No detours, is that clear?"

Yes but what is a sharp mind and suitable career if you have no one to share it with?
