In simple terms, the hydrosphere can be defined as all water on earth, whether in liquid (water), solid (ice), or gaseous form (steam). The hydrosphere includes oceans, seas, rivers, lakes, groundwater, rain, and water in the atmosphere. The amount of water on Earth is approximately 1,386 billion km³. 97% of this amount is salt water, and 2.3% is fresh water (consisting of surface water and groundwater), and ice or snow. The amount of water is relatively constant because water on Earth is constantly moving in a rotating environment called the water cycle. The water cycle is a series of stages that water goes through from the atmosphere to the earth and back to the atmosphere.

Daendels Pranking People

[SPECIAL BIRTHDAY POST 2025 PART 3]

Daendels came to Surabaya in 1810 and wanted to see the work.

At the towpath he stepped into a sloop at high tide, and watched until the water began to fall.

Colonel Cornelius was elegantly dressed in full uniform. Near the end of the embankment, Daendels ordered Cornelius to go ashore, and to summon the overseers.

This wasn't easy. The quay's grating was very muddy from the low tide. Poor Cornelius had to climb up it; and when he held on, Daendels let the boat move on; and there the colonel was hanging from mud beams, completely covered in mud! A few coolies had to pull him ashore.

“See Colonel, now you can see what that parade coat is good for.” [D]

“This is unnecessary for such work.”

And the iron Daendels laughed heartily, because he had given a Company servant a "dirty trick." The engineer captain remained quietly in the boat with him.

Daendels, the old man, usually got up at four or five in the morning and drank his coffee.

Then he sat down to work under the piles of paperwork by candlelight.

Towards morning the Marshal came out of the room, wearing a grained blue coat and sarong. He liked the sarong-dress; the kabaya less so.

Then he went around Bodjong's garden, with the young aide de Camp leaning on his shoulder, and asked the names of flowers, plants, animals.

Then the "iron man" was a gentle, calm walker, who usually called his guide: "little boy."

But oh woe! if clerks or service papers came, disturbing the walk.

Then the gentle man became a living devil: harsh, stubborn, thundering.

Only Jan Andries van Braam could then calm him down.

This.is.hands.down.the.best.thing.I've.found 🤭 First of all, this is so cute n wholesome I love how he's so curious by asking many question abt flowers, animals etc 🥹 Second; he called his aide de camp "little boy"!? Omg I'm 😭 The way his mood switches up when someone disturbs his morning walk 💀 Fyi I'm not sure who is Jan Andries van braam is, I'm assuming it's his bussines friend although I remembered that his name is Jacob Andries van Braam or smth like that 🤔

Now I actually find this passage months ago, I thought it would be special if I post it on his bday bcs it's js too good to be js a normal "Daendels moments" series 😋 Overall, this js proves that he's a huge softie in private haha ^^ Anyway, that's all for now, thank you guys n have a great day, stay safe 🌙

I actually discovered some of the record months ago 🫡 Decided to save it for his bday. I was planning to post it on the exact date of 24 October but nah nevermind lol 😆 In his Deventer registration, he was called "Hermannus Wilhelmus Daendels" 👀 Interesting. I've never seen him being called that lmao. I couldn't find his birth record sadly 🥲 It's either got lost in time, haven't got digitalized or never exist (pls don't) Anyway, that's all for now, thank you guys n have a great day, stay safe 🌙
