@jellyfin-official
I ♡ jellyfin
My relationship with my Jellyfin Server is to only add things to it and maybe actually use it to stream media occasionally. I guess sometimes its more about the journey then the destination
Keep saying I gotta post here more, then I never do
I also should probably reblog some things onto this blog, I should follow more programmers
So, what have I been up to?
Using my old laptop I’ve started my own homelab, currently it really only runs Jellyfin, but I have some plans (Octoprint for my ender; Immich, both for my parents and for my photography).
I got into college, and learned that I hate calculus.
Though I don’t think it will ever be directly useful, I now know MARS MIPS assembly and how to build a simple CPU.
I started learning Pico-8 but gave up once summer began, I intend to go back to it at some point
I got an internship at a CRO, which is what I’m doing currently, they had me learning SAS for the past 3 weeks, and now I’ve moved on to the formatting stuff like SDTM and ADaM.
What am I planning to do
As mentioned earlier, I want to pick Pico-8 back up, and properly learn lua.
I’m interested in trying to use dart and flutter to remake my portfolio, which I also want to host on my aforementioned homelab.
I want to keep making games, but I realized that everything I’ve made so far has been way out of my scope, so I’ll be focusing on smaller games for the foreseeable future.
My roommates next year are planning to build a compass that always points towards the nearest liquor store, and I’m in charge of the code, I’ve already got a few ideas but I’m not sure what’ll work.
Anyway, thanks for reading

AUR has been hit with malware
Per the CachyOS subreddit:
"As the title states, the Arch AUR has been hit by a huge malware infection campaign over the last couple of days. There's an earlier post referring to alvr. That's not the only package it's hundreds of them, many of them Aur packages average people would install like apple-music-desktop.
I don't have the full details of the scope of the malware campaign. I know it's a credential stealer so it steals ssh keys and browser login info and apparently has rootkit potential.
This was widespread and targeted orphaned packages. Aur for some reason allows other people to take over existing projects.
The bottom line is if you used the aur over the last couple of days you may have been infected and the problem with taking over orphaned packages I believe remains. I personally would not use the Aur for the foreseeable future, and ideally not at all. It's a security risk."
There is a script that you can run on your machine to detect if you have a package that is known to have been infected which you can view here. I have also linked the subreddit post here.
Just download it, make it executable and run the script with sudo and let it run, it will tell you what it found once it's complete.
Pls reblog to signal boost!!
Best News Ever, I just discovered that I unintentionally was apart of a hobby called self hosting. Which I am using a laptop for streaming my movies and TV shows.
“Pinchflat can technically download individual videos, but its strength lies in archiving entire channels and playlists at a time. For starters, Pinchflat lets me add channel and playlist URLs as sources, and I can modify the indexing frequency, download cutoff days, and retention settings. On conventional YouTube downloaders, I’d have to pull new videos manually every so often, while Pinchflat can archive fresh uploads after detecting them with its indexing algorithms.”
Personally I have been using TubeArchivist for this, but there are some key differences between the two:
Pinchflat acts like a “Sonarr for YouTube.” Once you set up a source (channel or playlist), it downloads the videos, names them according to your template, and saves the NFO and poster images. It uses low resources.
You install the TubeArchivist Jellyfin Plugin. This plugin talks to the TubeArchivist API to pull in metadata, thumbnails, and watches progress. TubeArchivist has its own dedicated web UI to browse your YouTube collection and is a bit heavier on resources (Requires Redis, Elasticsearch, and the App container).
See https://www.xda-developers.com/this-app-turned-my-jellyfin-server-into-a-youtube-archive or https://github.com/kieraneglin/pinchflat
Anybody here have pointers for setting up streaming of local broadcast television channels via Jellyfin? The guide on the website is decent but I’m at a bit unsure of what TV tuner to get that would work with the Linux box that runs my Jellyfin server
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
HE PUT PHM ON THE JELLYFIN
IM GONNA. CRYLMAO
Okay so I've installed a bunch of stuff that I've been needing to use w*ndows for (below the cut for specifics) and it just worked!! Like I've heard so many horror stories but nah this shit ez. Bluetooth? Audio? Literally ZERO dicking around with drivers. I've even installed EQ software to help my laptop speakers not sound so dogwater and to help my Bluetooth devices sound as good as I'm used to then sounding. And no fuss at all!!
This is your sign to move to Linux (yes you, reading this)
all offical blogs, reblog and I will follow. i want to follow all the offical blogs
EDIT: IM SO FUCKED I CANT DO THIS IM SORRY ILL TRY THOUGH
Hey so I thought we as userbase should organize spontaneous blackout protest against shapes inc ads here. I thought Feb 26th would be a good date (so ppl has 72 hrs notice if they want to participate), we would log off for 24hrs to show tumblr we are not okay with that (and also for shapes to get less ad revenue for a day in a process lol). Tag would be 'anti shapes inc protest'
If you like the idea/want to participate, help spread the word by reblogging this ask. Thanks <3
I would happily comply with this, hopefully enough people participate for it to make an impact!
Yo everyone who sees my blog. How about we do this
(+overall it's good to take a break from social media)
@kingkit7734 @withered-roses-still-live @ex-bus @starryvirus @reincarnated-gay-fox @mjthesilly @sprinty-ua spread the word if you want to
So as I learned this morning, none of the accounts on here who are named "Official" are the official account holders for [Insert your favorite flavor of Linux Distro]. They're just harvesting follows from the few of us who care about that nerdy shit. Fool me once. Shame on.
Touché, you silly bitches. It's quite shitty but you know, tell me what isn't anymore on the world wide web?
there are only like 3 major organizations with official tumblr accounts what did you expect
also nobody gives a shit about follower counts on this website
Oh my god we killed them

Hi! Question for you! The reason I chose plex over jellyfin for my setup is the potential for streaming outside my lan and using plexamp in the future when I can afford the plus membership. Obviously the bonus for jellyfin is that it doesn't have a paid membership at all, but is there a service in or outside of jellyfin that could replace plexamp? Also, does jellyfin have an option for streaming outside of your lan?
There are a ton! Jellyfin is rife with excellent third party clients. I have never used Plex or Plexamp, but the single best Jellyfin music app I have found is Finamp (FOSS), followed closely by Manet (freemium) if you need Apple CarPlay. Regarding streaming outside of LAN, you already said you were using Tailscale, so you can just access it through that, or if you need to be able to access it from non-Tailscale devices you can use a VPS as a reverse proxy or services like Cloudflare Tunnel (free but meant for static sites) or Tailscale Funnel (free, rate-limited to some extent). Worst case you can just port forward on your router but I REALLY don't recommend that for obvious reasons.
Some other good third party Jellyfin clients I have found are Streamyfin and Feishin, and there is a more extensive list here
Got everything planned out for my home lab, I'm sitting in the library autistically vibrating about getting it all set up. If any of my followers/people in the tag see this and have any advice or thoughts or suggestions please let me know, I want more friends who are into this stuff-

I've recently been made aware that if you are thinking of switching to Linux or want to switch but don't know how there's a great website made just to help people migrating from Windows to Linux.
The website has a long list of supporters, so if you really know nothing and / or are afraid of trying it and messing something up you will be able to get professional help from this website.
Extended support for Windows 10 ends in 2026. Don’t buy a new PC — revive yours with Linux. It's fast, secure, and help is available to get
There's even a list of places where you can go physically to get help. All over the world, not just in the USA by the way.
Say goodbye to Microsoft treating you like you don't own your PC. Say goodbye to intrusive features you didn't ask for. Say goodbye to ads on the OS you paid for.
