How do you get your dog to trust you?
Jemma’s anxiety is an issue that we deal with on a regular basis. For example, when we go on walks, a big truck or a bicycle or a mom with a stroller or a parked lawn mower can have her bolting back to the house. As such she’s always on edge. But if Jemma trusted me even a bit, she’d see I wasn’t scared and then would not be scared in turn. OR she’d run to me instead of to the house, potentially into traffic and endangering herself. She never runs to me. How do I get her to see me as her safe place? Is it stupid to think I could ever achieve that level of trust with her?
so far all the advice is good for building a dog’s confidence, which i admit jemma does need, but i want to know how she can learn to trust me. a confident dog doesn’t necessarily mean a trusting one. if she’s scared or in trouble i want her to come to me, not run off. another example is fireworks; she would rather pace the house panting than come sit beside me. simply making sure she isn’t scared of anything at all ever just isn’t feasible. like i asked before, is asking for her trust too much?

Goodbye my spot on the couch, I hardly knew thee.
I repeat, if you’re a zoosexual, get the fuck out of here. You sicken me. In the same way I wouldn’t want a peadophile reblogging pictures of my kids, I don’t want you reblogging pictures of my dogs.
Can’t believe I have to reblog this again.
