Story that shows the reality of favelas (brazilian slums) and how the authorities deal with it, even nowadays. The children of the favelas are raised surrounded by violence, death and drugs, which explains why they grow up to be criminals (not always, of course). But the habitants of the slums aren’t the ones to blame. Actually, the lack of a decent way of living and the absence of political authorities in the favelas is the goverment’s fault. Also, the corruption committed by the police authorities, choosing money before justice, is also a factor that copes with this sad reality. Fortunately, the current brazilian politics are taking action and starting to consider the favelas as a part of Rio de Janeiro, instead of leaving them aside and forgetting about their existance. But it is, of course, a process that will take long to conclude.
