This is what happens when you don't take care of your paintings while moving! I hang my head in shame for letting this happen to a work in progress..

COLLABORATIONS
Sometime in 2003 or 2004, my path crossed with an amazing and talented artist, davidcamisa. While working together at Starbucks, in Edmonton, AB, we soon found out how passionate we were about painting and the arts. We had get together hang outs where we would paint all night long while listening to music and drinking tea!
A few years later, I moved to Kelowna, BC. I missed having those get together painting sessions so much. We had talked about how much we wanted to do a painting together, so davidcamisa had contacted me about doing a project together for an upcoming festival. He shipped me a canvas via greyhound bus, with the sketch of the pin up girl already in place. From there I was to create the background and paint the feather fans and headpiece. I then shipped it back to him to finish painting the girl.
Had a blast doing this and hope that we can sometime create yet another stunning piece of art.

ANY OBJECT CAN BE YOUR CANVAS...
From walls to wooden CD boxes.. a nice break from painting on canvas all the time.
COMMISSIONED PIECES.. 2007-2013
COMMISSIONED PIECES 2002-2007
The following paintings were created for clients using ideas and/or images for reference on subjects that they wished for.
Whimsical, Abstract and Surreal...
I LOVE PAINTING TREES AND FLOWERS!!
When I first started painting, I wanted to create a simple but unique background. I would stand in front of a blank canvas and decide on what colors I wanted to incorporate. From there I would take the biggest brush I had, dip it into some watered down acrylic paint and just do one big stroke across the top of my canvas. I'd watch the paint just trickle down the canvas, and create wiggly lines. I'd add another color and do it over and over again. Over time it eventually started to look like marble.
After creating my backgrounds, I'd start creating these big, thick flowing lines, that either appeared as tree trunks, branches, leaves or even rolling hills. I became more comfortable painting whimsical, inorganic shapes.
These pictures best represent how much I've practiced over the last 10 years from using different blending techniques, to shading, and application of different types of textures.
These are some of my favorite first pieces that I did in my art college days.. 2003-2006.
I was heavily influenced by the incredibly talented Salvador Dali and Pablo Picasso. I loved their surreal landscapes, images and vivid colors.
The first picture above was a reproduction of a Dali. I used a mix of graphite and charcoal pencils for this piece. The other 3 were a mix of acrylic paints and oil pastels.
Intro to Tumblr.. Welcome to my art blog!
Welcome to my first Art blog! This is my first time using Tumblr so hopefully I’ll figure out how this all works. I basically want to be able to showcase some of my art that I’ve done throughout the last 15 years, network with other fellow artists, and share what I love doing in my spare time.
Enjoy :)
