This portrait of my housemate, which I've named AlexAngela the Great, was made using coloured pencils, having combined his side profile with an image of flowers given to me by botanical artist Olivia Chalmers.
It may be hard to see Alex in the image initially, but once you get it, you've got it.
I enjoyed wondering what these more recent pieces would look like framed and then found that I could use the Frame It app to also try them out in different surroundings
The word 'portal' kept going round my mind during this coloured pencil piece
I rarely use a sketchbook, but a trip to Wakefield's sculpture park and the Barbara Hepworth museum encouraged me to use my new colouring pencil set
It's good old Fibonacci again.
What can I say, but I really enjoy the combination, again again, of chaos and order.
My brother and I find the Silver Surfer one of the greatest superheroes. Cosmic, compassionate and cool, despite having a rather gruesome past and career
Just loved the Eastbourne waves moving back and forth on the shoreline, as I watched and snapped away from the jetty above
Continuing the theme of support, which began with a circle, a compass and the angle of 60° , I end with a hexagon and then a 2D depiction of the cube.
In the Hebraic language, Samech has a numerical value of 60 and means support, uphold and protection.
The universe always has your back, 360°, 24/7. Think pronoia.
Four Cubes
Acrylic on canvas
I like how these cubes pour into each other, the ever changing within the seemingly solid and static.
Flight Fight Freeze
Acrylic on canvas
Using randomly cut card, I moved the brush quickly over the edge. Very quickly I was reminded of the ravens I've seen from my window, expertly navigating the air, swerving, fighting, training.
Untitled
Washi tape on board
Continuing the jazz theme, just going in whatever direction the tape took me, and then at the last moments, adding an accent
Three in One
Pen on paper.
A simple overlay of three heads making one. I was originally going to fill the spaces with colour, but I found I couldn't. It's perfect as is.
Family Constellation, printed acrylic.
Part of the In Living Memory project, I worked with Anila Ladwa and the staff of Lewisham hospital's maternity ward to produce this piece, highlighting and celebrating the 'in/Visible Labour' that goes into helping the hospital stay open and welcoming for local people, especially when it faced illegal closure.
Super High Way is my working title.
Realities influence each other, and here technology, nature and the go between meet.
Painting of my nephew, Jahmel, whose wonderful afro gave me another opportunity to find the perfect poured paint skin from my library
