"Oh, hey. It’s St. Patrick’s day. Where’s Genos, we should go get drunk together. We can even invite his girlfriend and that kid fan of mine."
"Teacher, take me with you when you go out. I will ensure your safety as well as everyone else's."
"Himiko is welcome to join us. But please don't assume she's my girlfriend."
「 I locked on to you ♡ genos 」
Perseverance and authoritarian strength Which of the two do you deem important?
Today’s story wasn’t beyond dramatic, much to her dismay. Heroines of grand beauty deserved to have adventures of great might, full of an intensity that will touch everyone’s heart whenever listening to it — she would still have to wait, wouldn’t she? Those particular thoughts wandered in her head as she walked side by side someone she recently met. Someone that actually agreed to put up with her in order to protect the city despite their goals were extremely different.
For one, she wasn’t someone who actively seek to protect people but to be rewarded for that action while her companion seemed to be very eager on his heroic duties. Such a shame, he probably was an unfortunate fellow for teaming up with the horrible heroine.
Patrolling around sector oo3 was optimum considering the high criminal rates, minor as the fault can be considered, it was still within their right to prevent those.
"You know, we probably won’t find anything important here."
"I believe he is more trustworthy than you, puri."
Glaring at the angel who so nonchalantly spoke above them was an immediate response, for a divine creature he sure knew how to be lousy; his chubby form flew behind the cyborg’s shoulder just to avoid the judgmental gaze of Himiko.
Giving up on picking on Gaboo, she returned her attention to Genos, "Is this how heroes really work? Demons were easier to find back in home. We need something big! You know what I mean, right?"
As far as first impressions went, Genos thought Himiko loud and needlessly showy with all her "idol" behavior. Despite this, he did not mind her much, as most of his judgement of her is pending on when she'll display her heroic powers--the ones she continuously boasts about.
Sector 003 had been on his list for awhile, and he was glad for the chance to be on patrol with her. Sure, she wasn't Saitama (Genos does not think she would look good bald) but she may still prove herself to be a formidable ally.
Himiko moved boldly and confidently on patrol, to Genos' observation. Not exactly his style, but she was clearly fearless. Genos already respected her enough for that. He watched her argue with the angel-creature named Gaboo, catching bits of their conversation and nodded when the angel flew and rested on his shoulder.
"We heard the reports. Now we must investigate, then fight." Genos replied. That was, after all, what heroes do. He did not mention to Himiko that he was secretly craving a good battle as much as she did.
"I don't like having to extract criminals, either. But we--" Genos moved ahead of her, and upon approaching a dark alleyway made a motion for her to follow closely and quiet down.
There were faint whispers, and definitely traces of nefarious schemes. This was a pretty large group, from what Genos gathered, but still an easy enough target. He looked to Himiko and nodded, to make sure she was ready as well.
Something Sinister || Makoto and Genos
Mako could not outwardly tell that he was spotted. Thank to his amazing maneuver of hiding behind something that his bright orange shoes still stuck out from the side of, it was not entirely difficult to keep an eye on the teenager even as he was supposedly incognito. Still, the strange person did not seem to make mention of him, therefore he had no idea he was failing at his task.
He dropped off the strange bags, and instead of making a thunk like the brunet would imagine a corpse would sound like, instead it made a loud clanging as though filled with metal. Somehow in the teen’s mind this was even more suspicious. What was he doing, hiding metal pieces? What was his nefarious scheme?
The non human with metal arms garnered nothing but worry from the olive haired teen, and yet Makoto persevered, following Genos as he made his way back outside. He needed evidence, first and foremost. But he also needed to make sure this weirdo wasn’t going to hurt anyone.
That might have been jumping to conclusions a bit, but Makoto was scared, and had no one to cling to. His mind bubbled over with negative thoughts that typically were restrained, and before he could get any sort of law enforcement involved he would at least have to have some idea of what real danger was being put forward here.
But for now, he was hiding behind a light pole. A light pole that he could not tell his arms and hair and shoes were still clearly sticking out from the sides of.
Makoto seemed to have a problem judging how large he actually was.
What on earth could he possibly be doing like that?
It was a strange sight, a tall young man (taller than even Genos) hiding suspiciously behind a light pole. At least, Genos assumed he was hiding. Or meant to. He was being very generous of his definition of "hidden" at the moment.
The young man had been acting oddly throughout the day, starting from when Genos was outside to take down his laundry from the clothesline. He maintained a nonthreatening distance that Genos could only classify as "weird". If anything, he was more concerned for than cautious of the guy. He'll...just let him be for now. What else is there to do.
On his way to the supermarket, he heard a distinct "meeeoooww" and turned to his right. Just a stray cat, Genos figured. Another thought popped into the cyborg's head. The timed-sale on detergent at the supermarket will end soon. And unfortunately, Genos must prioritize. He made a mental note to purchase milk for the cat later, and proceeded on his way as if ignoring the cat.
Once finished with his groceries, Genos walked the the same route home later that afternoon. Hopefully, the cat is still there. Else...he's not sure what to do with the milk he just bought.
"Uh.. Yeah, right.. A real job.."
Dammit, those were the word he absolutely didn’t want to hear. Aside from being a hero, he was a screw up at everything else. Of course, Genos didn’t know that. Saitama never did reveal much about his past to the guy. Hopefully it wouldn’t come down to acquiring an actual job and he could just keep punching out thugs for cash. The last thing he wanted was to re-visit his old traumas.
"Anyway, on with the bad guy punching, yeah? Afterwards we can go eat something. I’m starving."
"...I say that but the truth is, I'm still in the middle of job searching myself. Teacher, rest assured I'll work hard to not burden our finances!"
After all, it wouldn't do to slack off when his own Teacher is so eager to earn his pay as well. And if Genos can't handle balancing training and crime-fighting with a steady job then how could he ever call himself Saitama's disciple?
"Yes! I hope you don't plan on fighting anyone without me. I need every moment I can to learn from you. Even while you eat afterwards."
Something Sinister || Makoto and Genos
This entire city was something a little scary to Makoto. He had been holding things in fairly well, putting on a brave front, but underneath the surface he knew there were dangerous forces here. Aliens with sharp pointy teeth, men with guns everywhere, it was an equation for trouble. He did his best but, Makoto knew at the end of the day he was not completely safe here. And that was scary enough.
His apartment situation had gotten fixed, and he had managed to move inside the small area rather uneventfully. But even that brought with it a new set of interesting issues. One of which was the fact that there was a person only a few doors down from him that was also clearly not human. Makoto was not one to judge, but on various occasions he had seen the person doing rather suspicious things in the building.
Today he would find out if he was really a threat, and if so would avoid him at all costs. For someone who would hide in the face of potential danger, Makoto was quite proud of himself for manning up and sneaking down as the mystery man was pulling obviously suspicious bags down to the first floor. And now was time to follow.
He had no idea what he would do if he found out it was dead bodies in those bags though. Did this city even HAVE a police department?!
That took awhile. Genos had finally managed to drag the two large heavy-duty garbage bags into their apartment storage room. They weren't necessarily heavy--at least, not for him--but they were certainly incommodious. He also had to take care not to be too rough carrying it, lest the painstaking days of scavenging for usable metal parts go to waste.
Genos stepped back from the storage doors to silently admire his effort. These were decent parts and though they won't last him forever, it was assuring to know that he at least had some material to repair himself with. Genos knew he would be needing them soon enough.
Genos turned his head slightly. He thought he had sensed suspicious behavior.
Just an ordinary human. Most likely a fellow resident. Male, from the looks of it. Doesn't seem to be a threat, judging from the distance. Perhaps he wanted to use the storage room, too? The best course of action would be to ignore him for now.
Genos turned to head away from the storage room and outside. He had other things to do, very time-sensitive tasks. Namely that he needed to collect his laundry that he hung outside to dry, then head to the supermarket for the sale day.
He'll do the laundry thing first.
angelicalbullet:
He’s really stupid.
"Not that kind of idol! I risk my ass every day for others, that’s the least I deserve! I want everyone to see how incredible I am! And you, Genos…!" Himiko proceeded to point him, adding the dramatic bit this moment deserved. "You’ll help me become a great heroine! You’ve been into this longer than me, correct? Then guide me!"
Teacher's apathy must be rubbing off on him. Genos only blinked at her dramatic reactions. Theatrics were unnecessary unless one was being explicitly heroic, or so he thought.
"Then let's team up. There's not much more to being a hero than proving your strength." Genos says, then adds "Your power should be as impressive as how much you go on and on about it."
"...sounds like Teacher has already gotten himself into arguments. That was fast."
"Oh, hey. Genos got himself a girlfriend. Good for you, man."
"WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT, BALDIE!? I MEAN I’M PRETTY BUT COME ON!"
”If by pretty you mean pretty weak and annoying.”
"Teacher, I have no idea what you're talking about."
"...But please stop saying things that could inconvenience both of us later."
"Oh, yeah. Everything’s cool. Kinda wished they’d have at least let me bring some of my cash here. Say, we should go beat up some gangs and take their money. We’d be doing a heroic deed and earning some cash at the same time."
How is that any different from assault and theft?
"Teacher, you never had much cash to begin with."
"But if you need me to beat up guys with you, I'm down. For the time being you should consider a real job, though."
"I’m saying I’m cute! Can’t you see it? Are you blind?! Heaven scouted moi because I got a pure heart.” However, she should disregard such commentaries. Himiko’s face lighted up soon as the offer graced her ears.
"W-wait! Yes, I’m super strong! Let’s work together some time! You’ll help me to be an idol!"
"You're cute with a pure heart? Ah, of course. I'm told Heaven works in mysterious ways...this must be it."
"Wait, you want to be an idol? I thought we were both heroes. I have no interest in being an idol. Even a crime-fighting one."
"Huh? Oh hey, Genos! I didn’t know you were here too. Guess they finally hauled your ass into this dump too, huh? Then again, I just got back."
"They got you too...I underestimated these scientists."
"But if you're here with your incredible strength, things will be alright again. Teacher, are you okay?"
"I didn’t know that sort of place existed to begin with! I’ve worked in the shadows for a long time, that’s all! I’m just getting started but I was born to be in the top!" And even now she was still lectured for revealing her identity but it was obvious how little she cared.
"Yeah, demons! Don’t you see? I’m a super cute girl chosen by heaven! I’m no ordinary hero! I bet you are speechless now, Genos! I’m really cool after all!"
...another loud girl appears. At least she wasn't rude like A Certain S-Class Heroine in his acquaintance.
"Demons? Cute?... What? Whatever, I have no idea what you're saying but if you're strong, I wouldn't mind patrolling together."
"W-wait, what’s this about class and rank…" This was bad! How is she supposed to be a hero when she ignored so much?!
"Eeeeh… You surely have heard of me already, right?! I’m Lady Himiko! An uprising star who fights demons!"
"How can I recognize you, when you're not registered as part of the Superhero Association?"
...then again, neither was Genos until Teacher persuaded him into it. He really should take it easy on the girl, especially a fellow hero. "Demons, huh...okay. There are other threats to humanity, but there's nothing wrong with specializing."
"So, you two are heroes?" Act cool, Himiko.
"Yes. My name is Genos. S-Class, Rank 16. What about you, Miss?"
"Huh. Guess I’m back here again. Hopefully that police chick from last time won’t try to arrest me again.."
"I’m not into that kinky stuff anyway."
"TEACHER!!!"
"What are you doing here?!"
