Travelling Arhab invites you to take a peek into his cabinet of wonders (”Wunderkammer”) where he collects things from his sailing and whale hunting trips round the world.
My room is floating on the ocean and this is my maiden trip (”Jungfernfahrt”), the first touch with water. Take a deep ocean air breeze from outside. Hopefully the fence is stable enough and the ship doesn’t sink such as the word propaganda. Don’t fall in love too quickly, little Eros is watching you.
Hiding behind my african mask may give you some protective feeling, but also let’s you be impersonal in some manner, it seems that you are hiding something.
I have a fetish for whales and so I collected a corset, which were made of whale beards back in the days.
Come in, take a seat, have a look on my scratch map to see where I have been lighted up by the oil lamp. Let yourself become part of John Malkovich and listen to his adoring flame.
As a traveller Arhab and his Crew travelled several oceans and visited several countries around the globe. He collects them pieces of souvenirs in his room while the sun set promises a new dawn. An african mask and an african fetish statue of medicine and protection slowly and solely dance in the breeze of Arhab’s soul.
Captain Arhab’s soul was filled with love, represented by the little Eros tormenting a centaur, until hate, in form of the river Styx, surrounded him and he became cruel inside. From now on he wanted to kill the white whale more than anything else.. The original scene is from the series Black Narcissus which was filmed in Nepal.
Until 1915 there was a lot of attention in catching whales because of their whale beard. It used to serve as flexible and rigid at the same time and coud be used for the tie of a corset. Today instead of whale beard, metal or plastic is used for the tie of corsets.
The so called whale beard gives the whale the opportunity to filter the water it inflows inside his mouth and then, when exflowing the beard saves the nutrition, just like plankton or other small organisms.
and here some of the images that overlay on the dreamy one in a panorama. As you can see, all of theme include scenes with sofas, from movies such as the Wolf of Wall Street, Being John Malkovich or Back to the Future.
dreamy images of sofas as a reference to psychoanalysis invented by Sigmund Freud, connected to the sick psyche of Captain Arhab in Moby Dick.
In some of the dialogs, when I searched for ease, people were told to take it with ease, such as in the exemplary video of a blind man driving a car. I found ease as an opposition to Captain Arhabs obsession with delusions of grandeur.
failed psychological evaluation. The character played by Pitt gets evaluated over and over again. Would Captain Arhab pass such an evaluation? Probably not..
I would say to him, "If you wish, I can examine you and then we can decide whether it would be indicated that I treat you or not." So I'm not going to make any public diagnoses now, but as a citizen I can of course give my opinion on the politician Donald Trump and there I find him an immoral, petty, arrogant person, a man who acts ignorant, uneducated and impulsive. He shows excessive aggressiveness in the political, plus he lies like a rug, and when he leaves he has this contemptuous grandstanding. I consider this man politically dangerous.
Otto Kernberg on the question if he would treat Donald Trump, from the book Was hilft Psychotherapie, Herr Kernberg? Erfahrungen eines berühmten Psychotherapeuten by Manfred Lütz
Laurie Anderson also quotes Moby Dick at the end of her tale with the words “Call me Ishmael”. Maybe she gave the character the name because both actors share the seek of adventure, one going on a whale hunting boat, the other living with an indigenous tribe. Both are alienated at the beginning. Ishmael in Moby Dick shares a bed with a cannibal and Ishmael from the song put hisself in a strange world.
Call me Ishmael.
