Sansa: Kindness!

Witchcraft & Anxiety
Hi Witchblr!
This is my personal story of witchcraft and anxiety. It’s important to note that witchcraft is in no way an alternative to professional treatment, but I want to share how witchcraft impacted me.
My witchy journey began at the end of my freshman year of college and after my 6-month long relationship ended suddenly. Until this spring, I had never had any anxiety symptoms. However, I began having panic attacks. I was tense all the time, and worried about things I knew I didn’t need to worry about, and couldn’t figure out why. When I came home for the summer, my relationship ended over the phone, in a conversation that came completely out of the blue. Needless to say, I was not in a good place.
One day, after yet another new patient appointment with a therapist, I noticed my old deck of tarot cards sitting on a shelf in my bedroom. I’d purchased them in the sixth grade, but hadn’t used them in years. I picked up the deck, gave myself a reading, and was shocked at how much better I felt after. After that, I dived headfirst into the world of witchcraft.
I think the thing about witchcraft that was so healing for me is that declaring yourself to be a witch is a way to recognize and take ownership of your own personal power. There are so many things in life that we can’t control, and for a person with anxiety, that can be really challenging. I couldn’t control my life or my emotions, and I felt helpless. In witchcraft though, I take tangible steps to control the forces at work around me.
Feeling stressed? I can do some grounding or meditate with rose quartz. Pissed at my ex? I’ll bring out the salt and banish those negative thoughts. Anxious about what the future holds? Time to grab my tarot deck, breathe, and take some time to think about what the cards are telling me and how I can move forward.
These rituals that we do both allow us to feel an element of power and control and recognize that the universe is bigger than we can comprehend. That combination of power and acknowledgement is incredibly liberating. Of course, finding a good therapist and getting professional help made a big improvement in my struggle with anxiety, but having those small witchy rituals was a big part of that healing process.
Please comment and let me know if you’ve had a similar experience, or have thoughts to share. I’d love to hear them ✨✨
