Hazbin Hotel with Jett—Music Number: Hangin’ in the Balance
Jett stood alone in a secluded section of Hell as an illusion demon, his hooded white cloak billowing behind him. The music began, sounding like a mix of Chinese and rock. Then Jett began singing.
Jett: 🎵The sun is sinking low, painting gold on the wire. I’m standing at the edge of the truth and desire!🎵
Jett watched the sun set.
Jett: 🎵Heart’s like a battlefield with words I can’t defend! (Words I can’t defend!) With every choice I make, it feels like the end! When I’ve been walking lines too thin too see, caught between what’s right and who I need to be! Who I need to be!🎵
The chorus begun. And Jett’s gaze was ahead.
Jett: 🎵I’m hanging in the balance… between the dark and light! One step from the silence, one breath from the fight cutting through my soul! Will I rise up or will I fall? I don’t know, I don’t really know. Will I rise up or will I fall? I don’t really know……🎵
Irene, who was nearby, had glanced up, noticing Jett’s solo music number. She stood off to the side.
Jett closed his red eyes as memories of Leona came flooding back. Lingering regrets still chase him all the way down here to Hell.
Jett: 🎵Your voice, it echoes like a ghost in the rain… every what if burning like a flame…🎵
Memories of being trapped in a frozen prison outside the multiverse for 7,000 years accompany the ones of Leona’s face.
Jett: 🎵Time keeps on ticking, but the clock won’t speak! I’m chasing answers I may never keep, and who I need to be!🎵
The chorus begun again, and Jett opened his eyes. Irene’s hands soon gone to her chest. She felt bad for the illusion demon before her.
Jett: 🎵I’m hanging in the balance… between the dark and light! One step from the silence, one breath from the fight cutting through my soul! Will I rise up or will I fall? I don’t know, I don’t really know. Will I rise up or will I fall? I don’t really know……🎵
On the guitar solo, Jett wandered off by himself. He was unsure what he can possibly do now. Or where he can go now. He doesn’t have anywhere else left to go. Jett sang the bridge.
Jett: 🎵The sun is sinking low, and I’m still on the wire… cutting through my soul, will I rise or fall? Your voice echoes like a ghost in the rain… will I rise or will I fall? Will I rise or fall? Will I rise or fall?🎵
Jett: 🎵I’m hanging in the balance… between the dark and light! One step from the silence, one breath from the fight cutting through my soul! Will I rise up or will I fall? I don’t know, I don’t really know. Will I rise up or will I fall? ‘Cause I don’t really know! Will I rise up or will I fall? I don’t know, I don’t really know. Will I rise up or will I fall? I don’t really know……🎵
Irene’s gaze was fixed on Jett as he expressed his uncertainty through this song. Life’s been kicking his ass so hard he isn’t certain about himself anymore. Every day in Hell, Jett has hung in the balance. He still had now. Life is cruel. And the afterlife hasn’t been any different. That was when Irene hugged him from behind, moved by Jett’s song. “How long have you been hanging in the balance?” Irene asked. “Seven thousand years,” he responded, his eyes going downcast, “and I still have nowhere else left to go………” All this time, Jett had to burn the memories and drown his nightmares just to breathe.
