Public Transport Makeup Artists
One intriguing observation I have made, in the five years of living in London, is the need for certain women to apply a full face of makeup during their journeys on public transport.
One minute I am glancing at a woman who is texting on her smartphone, the next she resembles a Native American Indian, replete with beige blobs and stripes that are a combination of strategic placement, a bumpy ride and chance. Her cherub like demeanour disturbed by an expression that now resembles both a stroke patient and the classic art masterpiece called “The Scream” by Edvard Munch. Then once the ick is rubbed into her face, it’s out with the giant blusher brush and cue the magnum look from Zoolander. It’s the mascara face that gets me, big wide eyes and gaping mouth, the same look of a man whose been given a good kick in the balls. Is it really that difficult to keep your mouth closed while applying mascara?
A perfectly good face getting ruined by the use, and sometimes overuse, of cosmetics that, for some women, applied carefully, is subtle and effective, however, there are those who use cosmetics purely to hide the clinical insecurity within and it looks shocking.
There is also the issue of timing. I am guessing that she is doing it on the bus or train because she didn't have enough time to do it at home? Well, the answer to better time management is....go to bed earlier, get up earlier, and she will have enough time to do it in her own bathroom or bedroom and the passengers will be none the wiser.
