Dad

The two main characters in the book are the father and the son. Throughout this whole book the they are just trying to survive. The father symbolizes protection. He loves his son and is willing to do anything for him. He cares about him and to me, the son is the main reason why the father is alive. Because without his son he would have nothing, especially since his wife is already gone. His father main goal for the son is for him to be able to survive on his own, and after all the father only wants what's best for his son. He is willing to go through all the pain,and take all the risk to protect his son, that that he might have a better life.

The road I actually really liked the road, and I was surprised how much the movie depicted the book. Most of the time the movies and books aren't that similar. Sometimes they add or sometimes they leave out lots of key factors but overall the movie was pretty close to the book. My favorite character was the son, even thought their wasn't much to choose from. The son to me represented, love, compassion and grace. And the son reminded the father to always show kindness to people who don't always deserve it. For example, when the guy at the beach steals all their food and belonging, the father makes him takes off all his clothes and basically leaves him for dead. But the son con nieces the father to turn around and give him his clothes back. The son shows that guy who stole their belonging grace, by trying to give him his clothes back. Grace is giving someone, something they don't deserve.

Have not finished the book yet, but will before class tomorrow. But based on the responses I’ve seen so far on it, I kind of don’t really want it to end just yet. I really enjoy the grandparents’ story more than Oskar’s, only because theirs isn’t as fast-paced. But that might not be the right...

I haven't finish the book either, but I'm pretty close. I really enjoyed this book a lot. I like seeing how Oscars mind works. Oscars is actually really funny to me. Sometimes I don't think he has a filter because he just saids the most craziest things. He calls girl beautiful all the time, which I don't think is a bad thing, but I mean this kid does it all, the time. One time in particular he ask the married lady if she would kiss him which I thought was just completely bold of him, but hey he has no shame .. And also he is like ten. Overall extremely loud and incredibly loose is defiantly a very good read, interesting, funny, sad, and emotional.

Oscar really amazes me on how smart and determine he is. I was so surprised that he would go out and just try to find people to figure out the mystery of his dads puzzle. I learned a lot about elephants when I heard Oscar speak. I defiantly didn't know that they had to inner voice ,secretly talking to each to each other to meet up I thought his letter to the French instructor was hilarious! Clearly thinking like a little boy, but hey it worked. Because of that he was able to go on his quest. Also the grandmother in the story has such a kind heart. She looks out for Oscar so much. For a grandma she must be pretty fit because she endures a lot.

You know I actually thought that it was amazing how not many people knew about the Dresden bombing. But even more amazing is how that church building is the only structure left standing. Like you, I don't believe in coincidence, I don't believe in chance. Speaking logically, no structures should be left standing. Whenever a bomb hits that's what happens, everything is leveled. So to me, it makes no sense how one church building is left standing. I believe in miracles, I don't think there is anyone that hasn't seen or at least heard about one, because there everywhere. Scientifically speaking you just can't explain them. So the question comes up, how can something that is scientifically impossible exist?.... If you ask me, all I got to say is "it's a miracle"

I agree with you Matt about some of that but if we said goodbye and thought it was the last time every time, wouldn’t that get depressing? I never want to think about the person I’m saying goodbye to never coming back. I know that I would appreciate their presence around me more but I still don’t want that thought in my head. I want to say “see you later” rather than “goodbye”.

I think your right on it dude. We as people do manage to take lots of things for granted. Things that we get used to. Things that are always there. I think sometimes most people don't really even realize how valuable their possession are. Like the saying goes "you don't realize what you have till it's gone."Also I do like the point you make about goodbyes. To me, What your trying to say is Treat every moment like its your last. Realize what amazing people you have around you and show them you love them. Im sure you wouldn't get in that fight if you only had twenty-four hours to live. Don't go your entire day being mad about something so little and unimportant.Make the best out of each day and enjoy.

I googled the Vietnam War, and came across this picture. I feel like this very accurately depicts what is going on in the book, well. the majority of it at least. These men are still children, and no one care that they are being handed guns to become soldiers for a war that none of them were...

It amazes me how young those kids are. To think that young ten year old boys are handed guns to kill. It makes me think about how the war and the Vietnamese country was. That they didn't really care what, when,when or who they sent out there. As long as the Vietnamese had people on the fields it was okay. I think Riley's reaction to Lemons death is extremely inhuman. But really thinking about it , it could be sort of justified by the fact of their situation. They were in a war, and unless you been in one, you can't really understand.

If you think about it, Oskar’s grandmother is Oskar’s only true friend in the book. She is always there for him, and always will be. My grandmother is actually the only one of my grandparents I have. She is around ninety years old and she is back in Peru. I never really had a close relationship with her and that probably because I think she has had alzimers ever since I could remember and obviously because we're thousands of miles away. Oscars grandmother is a very thoughtful and generous women. She always wants the best for Oscar even though he might not realize it. I sure hope that by the end of the story he sees what an amazing grandma he has.

Oskar is a really cool kid in my opinion. While he may come off as annoying to some people I think this is just because he he is to smart for such a young kid and his general openness is misunderstood. He may not be more mature than many adults but he does know quite alot that most people do not know. His overwhelming knowledge and his natural intelligence are expressed in weird ways as his innocence seems to get in the way. This overall gives him a unique perspective that is entertaining to behold especially coming from one so young.

I agree with what you said, I think Oscar is a pretty decent kid. He might be a little rough around the edges but overall he is just a kid. Sure at some points he might come of as annoying but hey I'm sure you were too, just kidding. He is so determine when he sets his mind on something and his intelligence is astonishing. Him being so Smart at such a young age is what makes him different. I believe he doesn't have a filter, he speaks his mind and sometimes doesn't know when to stop. I think Oscar is a very special person and exited to see how this books turns out.

Oscar Everyone in class bash on Oscar in class, but I think we're all forgetting that kid is still a kid! Obviously he might be a little annoying and act like he knows it all but then again YOU were probably like that too! Not to mention everything he has gone threw. I have never lost anyone close to me, and I can only imagine how it's like for a young child. Oscar is a very strong kid, to go threw everything he has been threw.

9/11/2001 Surprisingly, that was the year we move to Panama City. We came in April, I was just learning English and I was eight years old. I was in my third grade class, at Oakland Terrace, my teachers name was Mrs. Bullock. Honestly we went the whole day without knowing. I faintly remember walking out of school and seeing all the teachers with their TV's on, and this look of denial on there faces. Looking back now, I can imagine them thinking, "is this really happening?" And yes , it was really happening. Since I was only eight then, I didn't really understand everything that was happening. I didn't understand how big it really was. As a little kid, the main part I remember was that it was on the news for about a month, and if not it sure did seem like it. With how big the tragedy was, it's not surprising. This horrible event reminds me of what really matters, and that's people. Everyone coming together to help. Caring and loving people enough to put their life's on the line. What greater love than that.

HUMOR. STORIES FROM THE NERVE BIBLE September 28, 2013 Laurie Anderson.... Heck of a writer, not only because she is really funny but also because I can't understand what she anything she is talking about. Mrs. Clark explain how Anderson's stories were suppose be read and what they were used for, everything seemed to come together. In class when I heard on Youtube Anderson read her own story, she almost sounded as if she was on medication. Anyways, thats besides the point, Anderson 's story about visiting the Mexican tribes was very intriguing and different to what she is used to. I came from the mountains of Peru to America so I can relate. Obviously the change wasn't as drastic, we're not living in huts and hunting animals for food but it sure wasn't the same. For example, no AIR CONDITIONER in Peru. I know most of you must be thinking how can you survive ... But it's possible. Eventually, you get use to it or I guess adapt ,to where you are.

COME OVER September 28,2007 This story is actually really interesting to me. It's short , sweet and to the point. Not only that, but in only four pages it sends a very strong messages. Try knew things, there is only a few truth that don't need to be tested. Believe, anything is possible. Don't be so mean, the big sister in the story was such a downer and negative. Look on the positive side, be happy. Don't let small things get you down. She questions believing in god in this story too. She wonders why she prays, and gets no answer. Ironically at the end of the story she hears something. In the middle of the night, a bird stars singing outside her window. Is the bird singing a coincidence?Or a sign? I mean how many birds randomly start singing in the middle of the night? Maybe it's just me, but honestly I think she was trying to say something. Though its not clear, i think she was trying to say, That God is listening.

.I wouldn’t say I read for fun, it’s more like I read when I have too. But honestly I really want to start getting into reading, a lot more.. Not only because i think it’s very relaxing but also because there are a plethora benefits to reading. Benefits like increased vocabulary, improved writing skills, increased tranquility and my FAVORITE better reading comprehension. As I was reading “See the Moon” first time around, I realize I had no idea what was happening. Completely lost, like “Where am I?”, “Who are you?”, ” what town is this?” …… Yeah completely lost. Take in consideration that this is the first time I’ve actually “read” a story in a good while. After about the third time I actually started understanding what was going on. I realize that this Author wrote this story trying to show how the human mind works, in a way. Thoughts pop up and random sentences come in and leave me wondering what just happened. I think the author does a great job in really putting a picture in your mind.
