Entries 24 and 25 in the OCE. Some undead decide to fight in arenas, and these two are the most famous.

In the northern parts of Xundalus there are lots of revenants - undead who rose after death, keeping all their free will, memories, and emotions, but with their bodies decaying as normal. Naturally that means lots of undead with nothing to do, and thus was born a major industry - gladiatorial fights between the undead, known as the Bone Ring.

Of course, when you have gladiators that never die, then you have to find ways to make future fights interesting. As a result, the Bone Ring looks more like pro wrestling in recent years, with these undead fighters embodying larger-than-life characters and creating stories and feuds among each other in the interest of entertainment. These two are reigning champions and are extremely popular due to their winning combination of showmanship and skill.

Osbone the Magnificent is the straight man of the two, a no-nonsense heroic character who gets things done and fights with amazing skill, utilizing his obvious lack of mass to move at impossible speeds. Baron Ensance is the flowery loudmouth, often taunting opponents and making fancy speeches while attracting all the attention.

The Bone Ring would probably be a great show to watch...

Entry #23 into the OC encyclopedia. A vengeful ghost that has a convenient "real” body to travel in.

The basis of this character hearkens back to my childhood in the Philippines when we’d be told stories of sightings of a ghostly woman called a “white lady” who appeared as a female apparition with a long white dress. According to those stories they often died terrible deaths, and this character’s past most definitely mirrors that. In this case, however, an enterprising lich crafted a very convincing flesh body for her to “possess”, so now she has the ability to blend in, only revealing her true form when things get serious.

Entry #22 into the OC reference encyclopedia. A lovely and kind demon lady with a not-so-kind-looking mace.

This character’s looks are misleading because she’s actually a very powerful and skilled warrior, and that’s probably my fault for giving her a soft expression. Regardless, I like this redesign so I’m sticking with it. This “demon” race just like the “elf” race posted earlier is another offshoot or “ethnicity” of the human race in this setting, and the term “demon” is just applied to them as a generalization. Part of the reason is that they are born with what is essentially super strength, which is how they can use such absurd weapons like this. I’ve been trying to shoot for more reasonable/realistic armor and weapon designs recently, so it’s nice to have races like these to give me a chance to go over the top once in a while. Heh.

Here’s another traditional ink and marker drawing for my reference encyclopedia of OCs.

I’ve had this character around for something like 20 years or more and she still somehow has a main role in a story. She mostly had a sort of standard Roman legionary/Greek hoplite look to her armor but I felt like redesigning her as well as the faction she represents, so I went for a different Roman (Byzantine) look altogether while keeping her spear and shield equipment.

Also I am terrible with straight lines in traditional work. Or maybe just terrible with lines in general. lel

Fell a bit behind on the drawing, but managed to get some time to do a couple, so here you go. Not so sure about the orange on the first guy but I figure that’s where the “team color” would go. As you can see he likes knives a bit too much and is a sort of throwing knife/knife fighting expert. The second guy is a sword mage and despite his elfish or vampire-like look is actually just one of a different race or “ethnicity” of human in this setting.

Today’s character is a slight departure from my typical stuff, in that it’s not someone covered in armor for a change. This is a revival of an old character I made back in 2006 or so, wherein I attempted to design your typical sexy witch/sorceress type of character. This one actually gave me a lot of trouble but I’m glad I was able to get it to a decent state in the end.

Here’s today’s drawing, which is a character not wearing armor for a change. I’m really feeling the rust of my skills with these drawings so I’m thinking I need to practice a lot more than the casual drawing I’ve been doing recently.

This character wields a crazy metal bow with metal arrows because she’s of a race that has superhuman strength, so these arrows in fact hit like ballista bolts and she can probably obliterate a dragon or castle door with a single arrow. Good times.

My computer was dead for a while so unfortunately I wasn’t able to upload these earlier. Well that’s kinda fixed now so these posts can finally continue. Here’s the rest of the Blanzhardia characters, most of whom got major redesigns, but I think the new designs make more sense.

As previously noted, here are a couple more Blanzhardia characters with their signature snake-themed magic golden armor. Rendering gold using markers is just too damned fun. I actually did something slightly different and used dark brown pens for the inking as opposed to black ones though the difference is not that noticeable.

Well I’m in the Blanzhardia section of this character encyclopedia so unfortunately you will be seeing nothing but women in gold medusa themed armor at least for the next few posts. I personally don’t think that’s a bad thing but it does make it look like I lack variety. Don’t worry, once I get more progressed in this encyclopedia I’ll show that I CAN draw things other than characters in armor.

I should note that the reason this character’s armor looks different and downright unrealistic or not based on medieval armor like the others is because she has some kind of futuristic armor and is therefore cheating. There are a lot of very overpowered things going on with this immortal character, and perhaps one day I’ll be able to show you.

Recently I’ve been filling up a small sketchbook with character designs to serve as an encyclopedia of original characters as well as giving me daily practice. I got more colors to play with so that’s definitely helping. I’ll be posting more of these as the days past until I fill this book.

This first set of characters are all characters from various Skulhoarse stories, specifically undead Skulhoarse and Zylverhia and the adult versions of their still-living children, with the latter two being allies. I had a lot of fun drawing and rendering all this armor though I should probably draw other things. Heh.

For this set, I was doodling and brainstorming undead characters in general using a ball pen at work. You can really get some creative designs when it comes to undead characters I think and they may be my favorite kind of character to design.

And now for further proof that I’m not dead, here’s another stack of sketches from the past few months, this time from the Ruin Frontier side of things! This set mostly shows a number of spaceship and native creature designs.

Just wanted to establish that I wasn’t dead, and to prove it here are some drawings from the past several months! I haven’t been doing a good job of keeping up on my drawing but that issue seems to have come to an end for the time being, so as long as my free time holds up I’ll be making regular updates here once again. Here’s a stack of character sketches I did in the last couple weeks. Only the first two characters here are actually alive; the rest of the characters below them are all undead.

Been a while since I posted anything but here are the same women on the previous post, drawn in armor but without helmets. I wanted to do something in marker since I hadn’t done so in a while so decided to go do something familiar as I just enjoy drawing these ladies and their fun armor designs.

I got Prismacolor markers recently. Never used markers before but as it turns out they’re pretty amazing, though I could use more colors. I did see that I had 2 shades of red and an orange that looked very much like gold when used in tandem with brown, so there was only one thing for me to do: sketchdump every Blanzhardia character! These are seven separate characters (the bottom one is the same lady), all of whom bear the name “Blanzhardia” and all of whom are champions of the same goddess, though possibly at different time periods.

In general, these women have some consistent traits, but despite that, I tried to give each one some minor individual styles specific to them, be it the various textures on their armor or the shape of the armor segments. The common traits are:

- Gold armor and metal in general. Note that it's not actual gold but instead a fictional magic alloy that is far more effective.

- Gorgon helmet of some form. Probably the most distinct feature. The goddess Tyrnazhel looks like a gorgon in her most common form and this reflects in the helmets of her champions.

- Female. That being said, there are some male characters in-universe that have similar appearances due to being in the same faction and etc. - Overall snake/reptile theme. This is pretty evident, but even simpler things such as the segmented nature of the armor is reflective of this.

- Fully armored. Every one is completely covered up and looks generally scary. There is no chainmail bikini/skank plate silliness here. Granted I try to apply this to generally any female character that calls themselves "armored", but Blanzhardia ladies in particular are meant to look very intimidating.

- Magic-warrior hybrids. Every Blanzhardia is a powerful elite/veteran fighter who has mastery of both magic and martial skill, and in fact uses them in tandem very effectively. While they have individual preferences, they are very well-rounded as fighters.
