Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016) dir. David Yates
sirius black: imprisoned for a crime he did not commit, escaped to go commit that crime as fast as possible
“I solemnly swear that I’m up to no good.” (late birthday present for @alicelongbottom )
Minerva Mcgongall pulled out her notebook and turned to the page that listed the names and details of that years Gryffindor Quidditch team. Her heart swelling with pride she jotted down the name “Harry Potter” next to the position “Seeker” before closing the book and opening a second drawer. She took out a small, wooden box and rummaged in it for a few seconds before withdrawing a worn out envelope, inside of which was a short letter and a photograph.
“Dearest Minnie,
Hope you’re doing well! I’m the same of course, driving Lily up the wall as usual, she sends you her love by the way!
Now I know I told you that you’ll never find a chaser as good as me ever again, but it just goes to show that even the brilliant are sometimes mistaken. I’ve found you (made you!) a replacement who will one day outshine his old man by leagues! Enclosed is a photograph of your new Quidditch prodigy so that you may assess his skills for yourself. We have him chasing the cat for practice. He’ll be unbeatable by the time he starts at Hogwarts! The youngest Quidditch player in a century!
I guarantee it, Minnie. And you know I’m never wrong, though you’ll never admit it!
Missing you and Hogwarts terribly,
Lots of love,
James
P.S. Sirius says his marriage proposal still stands.”
Wiping away a single tear that ran down her cheek and chuckling to herself, she smiled down at the photograph of a small, gleeful, black haired boy zooming along in a toy broom, a pair of legs chasing after him and a young woman laughing hysterically in a corner.
“Right again, Mr. Potter.”

“You’ll stay with me? Until the end.”

I stole the diadem. I sought to make myself cleverer, more important than my mother. I ran away with it. My mother, they say, never admitted that the diadem was gone, but pretended that she had it still. She concealed her loss, my dreadful betrayal, even from the other founders of Hogwarts.

have mercy!
lily evans was no idiot. she was top of her class, star potions student, head girl, and a favorite of teachers and students alike. she prided herself on her intellect and wit, her sensitivity to both academic and emotional subjects. lily evans was exposed to, from a very young age, the cruelty of human nature. there were burgeoning signs, warning hints of deeper hurt–from tuney, from severus–and as she grew, as she married james potter and joined the order, she was exposed to even more. she suffered the treachery of peter pettigrew, mourned the loss of dead friends, and lived the last few months of her short life in hiding, in a remote, small home in godric’s hollow.
and yet.
when voldemort came for harry, she still screamed, have mercy! she must have known, logically, that there was no chance for such mercy, that her pounding heart was overpowering her level head. the last breath she had, the last thought she possessed, was a blind, desperate hope for lord voldemort, master of a cruel heart and an even colder soul.
and yet.
she believed, in higher things. in love, and mercy, and justice, somewhere, somehow, in the universe. maybe she was foolish, maybe she was young. but maybe, just maybe, she was so good and innately strong that in her last moments, her last, most terrifying times, she was able to beg for mercy. she was able to expect it. and though she would not be granted such mercy, she still believed in it. somewhere. somehow. there would be mercy in this world.

One thing i really like about Ginny is that she’s both a mega Quidditch jock and still pretty feminine without either excluding each other. She could both knock you off with a Quaffle and rock pretty dresses and have pink bedroom walls decorated with band posters. She destroys pesky gender roles and stereotypes so effortlessly and i love her.
Graves: Smart clothing, very handsome, early middle-age, his demeanor differs from those around him. He is watchful, tightly coiled, an air of intense confidence.
Eternal list of favorite hp moments:
“'Special discounts to Hogwarts students who swear they’re going to use our products to get rid of this old bat,“ added George, pointing at Professor Umbridge. ‘STOP THEM!’ shrieked Umbridge, but it was oo late. As the Inquisitorial Squad closed in, Fred and George kicked off from the floor, shooting fifteen feet into the air, the iron peg swinging dangerously below. Fred looked across the hall at the poltergeist bobbing on his level above the crowd.”
Aw, don’t worry, honey. Most guys think what you was thinking, first time they see me.

Harry Potter, the boy who lived… come to die.
Hermione: Won't your mom mind that we're hanging out at your place?
Pansy: She's at a meeting for alcoholism.... then she's going out for drinks. We're fine.
