Geraldine Page remembers Dean’s “tremendous intensity and curiosity about people–always fascinated by everything around him. Most people would be frightened by this kind of intensity. He made people look at themselves and not like what they saw. Unless you kind of welcomed that look at yourself, because it gave you a chance to reassess yourself, Jimmy was a very uncomfortable person to be around.”
James Dean was nominated for an Oscar for “Best Actor in a Leading Role” for two consecutive years (East of Eden, 1955 & Giant 1956). His nomination in 1955 was the first posthumous acting nomination in Academy Awards history.
hey, I'm new to James Dean and stumbled across your blog, which by the way I love ♥♥ just wanted to ask whether he ever married?
Ooo, welcome and prepare for serious obsession to follow.
No, James Dean never had the chance to marry. He had several relationships, one of his strongest with Pier Angeli, but they were never long lived. Close friends have quoted him saying he always wanted to get married but he just never found the one in his short years.
“We were like Romeo and Juliet, together and inseparable. Sometimes on the beach we loved each other so much we just wanted to walk together into the sea holding hands because we knew then that we would always be together.
It wasn’t that we wanted to commit suicide. We loved our life, and it was just that we wanted to be that close to each other always. ”-Pier Angeli
“Everything about Pier is beautiful, especially her soul. She doesn’t have to be all gussied up. She doesn’t have to do or say anything. She’s just wonderful the way she is. She has a rare insight into life”. - James Dean
James Dean’s letter to Barbara Glenn.
“But I think, if you’re not afraid, if you take everything you are, everything worthwhile in you, and direct it at one goal, one ultimate mark, you’ve got to get there. If you start accepting the world, letting things happen to you, around you, things will happen like you never dreamed they’d happen.” -James Dean
Happy Birthday, James Dean. February 8, 1931-September 30, 1955,
“I want to live as intensely as I can. Be as useful and helpful to others as possible, for one thing. But live for myself as well. I want to feel things and experiences right down to their roots … enjoy the good in life while it is good.” -James Dean
Happy Birthday, Jimmy Dean! We love you.

"If I can keep this up and nothing interferes with my progress, one of these days I might be able to contribute something to the world.” -James Dean
Abra: But you must give him some sign, Mr. Trask, some sign that you love him… or he’ll never be a man. All his life he’ll feel guilty and alone unless you release him.
