Jaden opened her mouth to argue, but closed it after a moment of thought. Perhaps Jim actually made a point here, and it was one that had her obviously pouting in defeat at the realization. Nonetheless, she also had an important point to make about Summer. “I suppose you make a fair point there,” she replied in calm, yet begrudging tone. She had calmed down considerably from mere moments ago, but she always hated admitting when she was wrong. “I didn’t tell you about Jett, we didn’t know about Harper, but the thing that makes Summer so different as a recruit is her “upbringing,” shall I call it. Now, you know we’re not discriminatory against ex-C.A.R.M.A who are interested in our cause, we’ve invited Tatiana to join us. Summer is a very special case where she was handmade by a C.A.R.M.A scientist. That in itself could have threatened our group by inviting her to join us without checking in on her deeper.” She paused to take a breath, really hating that Jim had an advantage over her with facts and reason in this one instance. “The council should be more informed of each other’s recruits, it’s only fair, and it would avoid any surprises. I’ll talk to Mari about us all improving our communication about certain matters.”
Absently, the magician chewed on the inside of her bottom lip, squinting at the other Meta in slight suspicion. The thoughts she overheard on the surface of his mind, while not exact in what she was looking for, was enough to support his verbal argument. It was enough, for the moment, for Jaden to believe what he was saying. “I never intended to treat you as such, but you also cannot treat me as if I am lesser in position than you are. We’re all on the same side here, let’s avoid going behind each other’s backs and hiding secrets from each other. The seven of us on the council should at least be in the know of each other’s major moves, like recruiting, plans, and other important things that ultimately affects the Nephilim.”
With Jaden’s sigh he knew he had made progress; they could talk more honestly without as much anger clouding and distorting the proceedings. He nodded, giving credit to her points where due. “That is true. She could have been a threat. But...so far so good,” He smiled. “And her upbringing...that just makes her even better. A meta created to beat other metas. Granted, yes, there wasn’t as much vetting as probably appropriate, but knowing her story... Trust me it’s a doozey.” Jaden had a fair point in that Summer could be a threat, a very adept undercover spy. Jim acknowledged that...but given what he knew he couldn’t see why she would be. Even her power wasn’t enough to save her life if she betrayed them.
That matter seemingly solved, or benched, Jim moved on to them. Their personaly dynamic and the few kinks in it. Once again, Jaden made Jim nod in the face of her sense. “I agree. Perhaps...we are too used to relying only on ourselves?” He shrugged. He had only himself to depend on for years, others probably much of the same. Jim knew a layer of their...lack of trust...was because Jaden couldn’t read his mind, not as infinitely easy as she could others. “When it comes to recruits I do trust your judgment, but all being in the same loop would help avoid...this. For us and everyone else on the council.”
