"I changed because I met the members" -BTS JIN
This corner looks back on the members personal history up to their debut. Following J-hope, Suga and V the 4th protagonist is BTS oldest member, JIN!!
[Loved gaming since kindergarten, a lively childhood]
(I) was born in Anyang, Gyeonggi Provice and we moved to the city next to it, Gwacheon 1-2 years after, therefore I only have memories from that city onwards. The me before debut wasn't used to getting their photos taken so I didn't have that much photo when I was a kid. Looking for old photos was hard. You need to stay still when taking a photo right? But I wasn't good at staying still, I always told to stay still and take one more photo.
My favorite time was Kindergarten. There used to be famous dinosaur like character game before. I loved it so much. I really wanted to play the game but there's only one game console at that time and my brother would always hog it so I had no choice. That's probably why I still love playing games even up to now.
I was an active child during elementary. After school ended I would play with my friends and return home by dinner, do my homework then sleep. That was my daily routine. I had a lot of friends and everyday we would play so I was bad at studying. (laughs)
My favorite subject was Physical Education. But it's the opposite now. (laughs) I used to like running too. If its sports I liked swimming, tennis and golf which I learned from my father. Snowboarding too, my father who loves skiing always goes to the Skii resort and brings me along with him. That's where I started (learning). My father often goes to business trip but when he comes back, we play a lot of the sports he prefers. Also, He often brings me along to his overseas trips. Japan, Europe, Australia ....but I didn't like traveling that much it kinda felt like it was semi cumpulsory.(laughs)
My brother, who is 2 years older than me, contact each other everyday. We play games together, talk about different things. Compared to when we were young, I feel like we get along better now.
[Attending an all boys school in Middle and Highschool slows down a boys growth?!]
From 1st year of middle school I loved games, I didn't play outside anymore. (laughs) Every summer break, my friends and I would always go to the Internet cafe to play games all the time. My friends from middle school are my best friends. The four us get along very well and even if we went to different High School, all of us would go and play at the valley together during summer break. We also snowboard during winter break. Even now we still keep in touch with each other everyday. We exchange ahjusshi gags with each other(laughs).
I love Lee Seung Gi sunbaenims [DELETE], KCM Sunbaenims [Black and White Photos] Turtles Sunbaenims [Airplane] music. I particulary listen to Buzz Sunbaenims songs a lot. I still love Rock Ballad too.
I went to an all boys school in middle school and high school so I wasn't able to interact with girls for 6 years. When I became a university student I couldn't look at the girls in the eye. My eyes downcast when I say "Ya, How have you've been?" (laughs). But I was able to make friends with one girl with a frank personality at the university. That habit was finally straightened up because of it. I get hit and told to "Look at me at the eye when talking". Still I hang out more with my guy friends (laughs)~
[The path to becoming a singer and composer after getting scouted is still in progress! ]
During my 1st year in high school, I wanted to become a newspaper journalist to help those who were socially vulnerable. I read the newspapers editorial column everyday. I began aspiring to be an actor when I was in my 2nd year in high school after watching Kim Nam Gils drama, Queen Seondeok. I was deeply moved and began thinking that I wanted to become someone who could move someone to tears through acting so that's why I entered the film department at the University.
Three months after entering University, I got scouted by BigHit and I became a trainee. The 3 rap members were already there. Two days later, Jeon Jungkook joined in. There was a bambi eyed child sitting quietly in the practice room when I entered. When I asked "...who are you?" he stood up and said "Ah, I'm Jeon Jungkook". Even if I told him to sit down he would say "No, It's okay" (laughs). The first meeting that left a strong impression on me was Rap Monster who was practicing his dance. It was my first time seeing someone practicing his dance so I thought "Wow, its a trainee. Cool!"
Our trainee life was fun. During practice break I would would go out and eat with the other trainees. At that time, I liked dancing but after debuting I was told "Your dance is awkward/bad" so I lost my confidence... Nevertheless, my confidence was restored because ARMY would tell me "So cute" "You did well". I think it's because of this, that I'm still dancing.
I love my life now, I'm satisfied with being with BTS. I got interested in music because I met the members. During our debut, I had never thought that I would be composing songs. But due to the influence of the members, I started composing as well. It's still not good enough for it to be recorded to an album but I was told it was good so I'll do my best. (T/n: This may or many be AWAKE but this interview happened before WINGS release)
I hope there's an opportunity for me to try acting. Right now, V is doing it so I'm satisfied with that. More importantly, I want to be better at singing and my performance and hold more concerts. Its physically difficult but its really fun.
