All- Nighter (Jikook scenario)
“You have gotta be kidding me,” Jungkook muttered, looking up from the bright square of his phone screen and watching Jimin make his way across the room. He blinked a couple of times, his eyes adjusting to the darkness. “You need to go to sleep.”
Jimin didn’t reply; he stepped over the half-empty pizza box that was lying on the ground and seated himself right at Jungkook’s feet, his legs criss-crossing under him and his arms in between them. His gaze was directed straight forward, seemingly ignoring the college boy that was glaring at him all together.
Jungkook cleared his throat, but still he was ignored. Jimin was so infuriating sometimes… but as a roomate, it was nice to share a flat with someone, because of less cost and, occasionally, it felt good to talk to someone… but Jungkook would never admit that. He looked back down at his phone and continued scrolling through Twitter, his eyes drooping of their own accord.
He continued scrolling, his eyes glued to the screen.
“Jungkook-ah, I just can’t sleep….”
Jungkook’s heart gave a shiver in his chest. He adverted his gaze to the boy, his phone still frozen in his hands. “…bad dream again, hyung?”
Jimin’s arms wound themselves around his knees, his head drooping between them; his eyes shimmered in the faint light that came from the night lamp that illuminated a corner of the room. “It was worse this time… I-I couldn’t breathe….”
Before he knew it, Jungkook had silently slipped off the edge of the bed and was sitting next to the boy, his phone taking its place back in his pocket. He watched as Jimin, surprised, looked up at him, the boy’s chocolate brown eyes searching his. Jungkook waited for a smile, some sort of reassurance that he was okay, but Jimin’s lips stayed parted into a frown, bags hanging under his eyes and his skin unhealthily pale. All he got was a look. That’s it. Jungkook immediately knew it was serious– he could see it in his eyes, the way they were wide open, and filled with tears.
And then he let out a sob, the Park Jimin of Busan. The guy who always seemed the coolest and most collected on campus, the one which every girl ran after, and every boy strived to be. Only Jungkook had been shown this side of him, the side which revealed his personal life, his worries, his fears, his night terrors. The things that shook his very inner being, that tore his soul apart. Yes, only Jungkook knew about that. And it hurt him to hear that this Park Jimin from Busan was going through all of this.
“It’s okay, hyung….” his arms involuntarily snaked their way around Jimin’s trembling body. The warmthness of his breath was against Jungkook’s cheek, leaving his heart in a turmoil, his thoughts and emotions tumbling out of his head to leave him completely feelingless, and dumbstruck. He wasn’t sure what it was he was trying to overcome; something that ate at his insides when he was around Jimin, the Jimin from Busan, something that made him want to run away, from his mess of a being. But, as he felt Jimin’s head resting on his shoulder, all Jungkook wanted was for them to stay that way, forever, in each other’s arms. He didn’t know if Jimin felt the same. He was too scared to find out if he felt the same.
He waited as Jimin’s sharp intakes of breath slowed down to normal– he expected him to let go, to push him away, and hoped from every inch of his being that he wouldn’t. And he was surprised when he realized that Jimin stayed there, in that position, his head resting on Jungkook’s shoulder still.
And, seeing that Jimin was okay again, Jungkook leaned back his head and slept, his arms still wrapped around the boy, squeezing him and wondering if it was okay for them to never let go.
