In the Shepard King Duology we got the Nightmare, and in The Knight and the Moth we got the gargoyle. And I would like to thank Rachel Gillig for continuing to give us sassy weird little guys.
—The Knight and the Moth by Rachel Gillig.
Coming out of my long hiatus to scream into the void about The Knight and the Moth.
Gillig already impressed me with the Shepherd King books.
But this one is just… devastating. Haunting. Perfect.
But tell me why, whenever that one particular character is on page, all I picture is this guy:
Big fan of whatever the fuck Is happening in The Knight and the Moth by Rachel Gillig
random books read in 2025: the knight and the moth by rachel gillig
would you like me to tell you a story? the one with the tragic beginning and the desolate, interminable middle?
“I don’t want to change the world,” [Kiva] said hoarsely. “I just want everyone I care about to be safe.” - The Blood Traitor, page 157
It’s been so long since I’ve connected to and adored a FMC this much.
Caldon and Kiva have the cutest platonic relationship that I have ever seen in a book.
I don’t care what you say, I love them.
What do you mean tilda was kivas mother???? What do you mean the story she wanted to hear was the story of her and her husband????? What do you mean kivas literally actively betraying jaren and naari as we speak????? Like what do you fucking mean
I love romance but there's just something about platonic soulmates that makes me so happy.
Found family is truly the best trope.
CALDON FUCKING VALLENTINS, HAS MADE IT TO MY TOP 3 FICTIONAL MAN LIST LIKE I'M NOT EVEN KIDDING WHEN I SAY HE ALMOST OUTDID GRAYSON HAWTHORNE. HE IS JUST SO BABYGIRLL😫
