Anh Mai wishes you a happy lunar new year! In Vietnam, the lunar new year is called TαΊΏt, and itβs celebrated with worship at family altars, big banquets, and fancy new clothes like Anh Maiβs new ao dai. 2026 is the year of the ngα», or horse, and Anh Mai hopes you have a great one!
i hadnt actually looked at the modern historicals till now. regret
the box for modern 14.5 inch addy has a tobacco field as its backdrop, the tobacco field where this child worked as a slave, despite this being a "modern" interpretation lol. the author of addy's books, connie porter, had this to say about this shitty choice
connie porter articulated this perfectly. this stuff matters, and AG making such an obscenely racist cash grab makes me so sad.

βI need someone to love me. I want to learn to play. Please take me home with you, and brush my tear away.βΒ
Leanne's Halloween costume this year is Little Miss No Name, an iconic piece of doll history. This doll was released in 1965, and was marketed as a doll who was sad because she doesn't have a pretty dress or shoes, and she's alone in the world, with nobody to love her or care for her. She even has a tear falling from her eye. But she does have a heart full of love, so you'll be her friend, right? For $3.99, she could be yours.
She actually wasn't very popular in the short time she was available, but it turns out she was just way ahead of her time. Doll collectors nowadays love her strange look and kind of unhinged backstory. And being sad and alone is pretty relatable.
Honestly I'd be thrilled to give her a home some day, since I love unique and offbeat dolls, but I'd have to have some pretty outrageous luck at a thrift store or estate sale. She's very sought after and very expensive secondhand.
The inspiration for her big brown eyes might have come from the paintings of Margaret Keane, whose art often featured children with large eyes.
Her TV commercial is on YouTube if you'd like to see where the above video stills came from. It's trying really hard to sell you a doll who doesn't look entirely human....
I made Leanne's costume from a bit of burlap and felt. Super easy.
Three-year-old Bitty Twins, Holli and Heidi are wearing some iconic classic Bitty outfits to the pumpkin patch today! On the left, Holli is dressed in the Two-in-One Green Apple Set from 2007. I don't have the hat or tights so I improvised with other pieces. Heidi on the right is in the 1998 Autumn Set.

a simple look i styled for valerie this week!
i was obsessed with teen vogue, nylon mag, and the now-defunct polyvore as a young man, and i love assembling AG outfits from disparate releases, so i thought it would be fun to lay out where i got everything in that style! i had fun making this and would love to do more style edits like these :^)
