I made Maryellen’s Almond Energy Bites from the AG “Sweet and Savory Treats” cookbook.
I used peanut butter instead of almond butter because I already had it and omitted the coconut because my husband isn’t a fan of coconut. I doubled the recipe and added more toasted almonds this time. I bought already sliced almonds and toasted them myself.
I do have the new cookbook but I haven’t made anything yet. The recipes do have a lot more ingredients since it’s aimed for adults. It also does not have actual pictures of the recipes. The pictures are beautiful of the dolls but they are not helpful in cooking when you want to see what you’re making. I prefer older cookbook personally. Still I am glad AG is still making cookbooks.
Certainly younger me would be happy that adult me was still making AG recipes. (Though she would be rather shocked about a lot of other things! Why don’t we have any ponies? We only have one cat? That was a weird career choice. Wow we live here now?!)
I definitely recommend getting the original cookbook but the recipes are a bit dated since nearly everything has vegetable shortening in it!
I remember my favorite recipe was the ginger cookies.
