Last week while watching Empire I thought about doing a fashion recap because Cookie’s opening look was EVERYTHING!! Of course throughout the show she slayed like only Cookie can.
Well after watching Underground and getting every last bit of life sucked out of me, I thought about doing a recap on the strength of black women. Ernestine is my s'hero and I don’t care what anybody says, Rosalee is a beast! She started out a little shaky but earned her stripes.
When I woke up this morning my thoughts shifted. I wanted to recap how so many woman that look like me are now leading ladies on major TV shows! I started thinking about Wednesday night television on my DVR’s constant struggle to work out my recording conflicts.
I honestly can’t recall a time when I had to schedule so many shows to watch and it that’s when the light bulb clicked. I wasn’t watching these shows just because I had nothing else to do. I was watching because these shows are amazing TV and have amazing cast members that look like me!
So here is my ode to the beautiful black women that are making moves and welcomed into my home EVERY time they are on air. You ladies embody the true essence of women and are classic examples of why we are to be feared (respected) in every facet of life.
In no particular order of importance check out these women of power making me proud to be a black woman who ROCKS! And remember on any given night these shows are airing, I might not be available.

The funniest show on TV right now and its all about me and my life. This is all of the great family TV shows rolled into one and I couldn’t be happier. Think “My Wife and Kids” and “Cosby” marry and birth the Johnsons.
I just have to add I want to be this fine at 59!
This young lady is all the business and has been around for awhile. So happy to have a beautiful young woman for our young girls to look up to.

You can’t talk about these next two shows without talking about Mother Shonda Rhimes. If not for the unbelievable talent God blessed her with we wouldn’t be in love with Olivia Pope or Annalise Keating. Thursday nights belong to this queen and her lovely court. We are all learning how to get away with murder caught up in Annalise world. Annalise is all of the business and then ours. She is bringing body to the courtroom in her power dresses. We #HTGAWM students know to be careful when we enter the house/office/parlor. The shade is darker than a midnight eclipse. Yes, Drama, drama, drama and some spirits. The liquid and scary kind.

Whew! I'm already tired from trying to comprehend all this girl power!
Then there's Boo Boo Kitty aka Anika aka Cookie's nemeses.
She tried this power move but we all know how Cookie handled this.
Finally to the supporting cast of "BlackGirlBadassery on Empire
Because we all want and need a Porsha in our lives to spy on the spies.
And Becky makes everything RIGHT with spreading joy and shade equally!
And Tiana is just singing, dancing and making this TV money. #unbothered
I really miss Camilla. Can we get her back since I don't remember seeing her body?
And I end this Empire line up with my cyber sis Kelly Rowland. She stays booked and blessed and I am loving her!
So I leave you with true Cookie tears as I try to figure out what to do while waiting for my melanin sisters to join me again. Thank God I set my DVR and can stream all of these shows online if I want to reconnect.

For this segment of Everyday Runway that aired on August 26 we joined forces with the very flirty and feminine Gia boutique. GIA is definitely Glam Inspired Attire for the modern fashionista.
Our back to school segment focused on looks for any mom to wear as she gets back into the routine of attending conferences, recitals, and running errands.
We found two of the cutest moms to model a corporate and stay at home look. First up was Michele, mother of a beautiful 4 year old to model the corporate look. Dana our mother of two handsome young men modeled a chic stay at home look.
Both ladies showed the versatility and their own personality with each look. To complete the look, Gregory Lawrence did makeup for Michele while Jonathan Stewart did hair for Dana.
I was blessed to also don a gorgeous black and gold ensemble and have hair and makeup services done by Greg and Jonathan.
