The Lost Documentary On Skateboarding & Hip-Hop
Skateboarding and Hip-Hop’s connection may appear a foregone conclusion at this point, but this certainly wasn’t always so. Bricklayers like Zoo York (the original and redeux), The Shut Crew, Chad Muska, Tommy Gurrero, Terry Kennedy, Chris Pastras, Andy Howell, and Stevie Williams took their love for Hip-Hop culture and Skating, and used it to give skating more clout, foothold, appeal, and acceptance.
This documentary (originally done in 2008) was originally put together by NYC skate OG, Phat Farm co-creator, Zoo York founder and Shut Skate designer Eli Morgan Gesner, who also features prominently in the film. Even back in 2008, skate gear heads like Nicky Diamonds and Stevie Williams are shown as success stories. It’s baffling to think how far past that even things have progressed at this point.
Narrated by Rosario Dawson, this film also features Jim Jones, Prodigy (Mobb Deep), Tony Hawk and Curren$y, and is dedicated to the late Harold Hunter of “Kids” fame. Needless to say, the generations are united in this lost gem.

Happy 100th birthday NASA!
March 3, 1915 marks the birthday of the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics, the federal agency founded to institutionalize aeronautical research, which later went on to become NASA in 1958. According to NASA, President Woodrow Wilson and Congress charged the new agency “to supervise and direct the scientific study of the problems of flight with a view to their practical solution.” The original committee was made up of 12 volunteers with an allocated a budget of $5,000 — and we’re still using their inventions today.
