this is my first job, after all.

I have to keep reminding myself why I want to stay in theatre. My job does not totally suck -- I could be working for a law office, completely miserable, not utilizing any of my talents. I’m using my degree- that’s a lot more than what my peers are doing. My particular job description holds within it lofty goals but for me, attainable. What downright terrifies me is the structure within I am operating in -- only female, youngest by an easy 15 years, and loose guidelines that could apply to me, but not to others. Where is the line drawn? I need to specifically know what is OK and what is not. This is my first job, after all. And I know the amount of responsibilities I have taken on will help launch me into a better job after this. You see, that’s the problem - I keep thinking about the next five steps. Why am I already looking at another job when I’m locked down for at least a year? I’m stressed to hear people say how horrible my job is but I know it has a lot to do with how I talk about the job. I don’t like the two people I immediately work with. I do like, however, the content of my job (so that’s good) and I like learning about the new interns. I enjoy catering to the subscribers and audience members’ particular needs. I like making them feel special. I like planning special events. I like writing. I get to write a lot. I know that whatever job I have next will be a piece of cake compared to this. Now the problem is staying within a positive mindframe because when I have too much time on my hands, the overthinking starts. I need to squelch this before it festers into something more malignant.
