Alice sat down in what she thought was an empty stairwell, pulling out a cigarette from her case hidden in her boot and lighting it.

Joan was just walking upstairs when she heared someone entering the stairway. First she wanted to let it go but on second thought, she decided it would do no harm to check who it was. When she saw Alice she knew it was for the better and approached the girl, sitting down next to her.
