Can we just take a moment in amongst an episode FILLED with big moments to appreciate the little ones?

And, more specifically, how BRAVE Joanna is to immediately put her herself and her own body through the strange magic portals that have just appeared in front of everyone, even despite the fact that she did so without knowing ANYTHING about what the hell is going on?

She loves her people, and the people of Mantle, and even the people of ATLAS enough to immediately offer herself up as the test run for the insane magic in front of her and confirm what it is for them - before anyone else has the chance to risk themselves and do so?

She risked everything, knowing nothing about what it may mean for her, just for the chance to confirm the possibility that somehow, someway, they had been offered a chance to escape the options presented before them. She didn't know what would happen when she put her hand through that portal. She didn't know what would happen when she WALKED through that portal.

We have seen remarkably little about about Joanna and her character, even compared to the other Happy Huntresses. But we have now had our first glimpse - that she would happily be the first to risk herself, and offer herself up to whatever consequences may come, if it means a chance at survival.

And she still did it.

may, fiona and joanna just all hugging and bursting into tears because this is it, abandonment was one thing but threatening to kill them all is another and there’s nothing they can do to stop it and they’re going to die and they’re just… accepting it.

and robyn, miles away at the top of atlas, unable to get to them but looking out that window and you know she wants nothing more than to be there, with her people, to comfort them as they die together.
