I only accept visual references, not written ones. An extra character in the piece is $15.

So, uh… here’s an interesting trend I’ve noticed over Volumes 6, 7 and 8:

Volume 6: Ruby uses a big heroic speech to bait Cordovin into taking a shot at here, thus revealing her cannon’s weak-spot for Ruby to take out.

Volume 7: Ruby needles Harriet’s competitive streak in order to bait her into chasing her around for the entire RWBY vs. Ace-Ops fight, thereby keeping Harriet distracted and unable to help her teammates.

Volume 8: Ruby fakes an ‘accept death with dignity’ move to bait Neo into taking a shot at her, thereby leaving her open for Ruby to semblance-burst around the platform to kick Neo off.

Notice the trend?

It seems that Ruby has taken up a recurring strategy of baiting her opponents into revealing a weakness (which is good and clever), using HERSELF as the bait (which is… concerning).

In case it wasn’t already apparent, I think Ruby has a lack-of-self-worth/self-sacrifice problem.

(Also, if Ruby does happen to encounter a ‘Well of Mimir’-esque situation (the well that Odin sacrificed an eye to so as to gain forbidden knowledge) in Volume 9 that might let her figure out how to beat Salem, I’m pretty sure she is going to try carving her eye out with zero hesitation.)
